Start ‘em Sit ‘em: Week 8
Quarterbacks (PPR)
Something all fantasy fans search for hours upon hours each week is who they should start or sit. Other than the obvious such as Patrick Mahomes, Todd Gurley and Antonio Brown, who should you start? Who should you sit? The veteran wide-out or the second year stud? What about the proven Quarterback vs the hot back up? We all face these problems and hopefully I can help you. With success and failure here are my Start ‘em, Sit ‘em’s.
Quarterbacks: Start ‘em
• Jared Goff (vs Green Bay): This is a team you can no longer doubt. If you own one of the many skill position players on this team, you start ‘em. Quarterback Jared Goff has played good consistent football and has many talented players around him. Even without Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp (doubtful), this team seems to be matchup proof. This week the Packers come to town in the highest over/under matchup of week 8. Start Goff with confidence.
•Andy Dalton (vs Tampa Bay): Andy Dalton had his worst fantasy outing of the season in week 7. Dalton threw for just 148 yards (lowest this season) and his QB rating was a mere 63.6 (also lowest of the season). But you don’t cry over spilled milk. Dalton faces Tampa Bay this week who is ranked 29th in passing defense and seems to like giving quarterbacks a good win after a tough loss. The Bengals also have a friendly upcoming schedule, so don’t worry about the red rifle. Start him.
•Andrew Luck (@ Oakland): Captain Andrew Luck is the QB3 so far this season and it comes at no surprise. The Colts Commander has attempted 40 plus passes in 5 of 7 games with no sign of slowing down. Granted, running back Marlon Mack is proving to be a reliable workhorse but in this case I think it will help Luck. With a running game being established, It should give Luck the distraction he needs to complete more passes. Oakland’s pass defense is last in sacks and allowing a top 5 QB rating to opposing quarterbacks. No Luck needed here. Start him.
Other Notable Starts:
•Mitchell Trubisky (vs NYJ)
•Ben Roethlisberger(vs Cleveland)
•Jameis Winston (@ Cincinnati)
Quarterbacks: Sit ‘em
•Matthew Stafford (vs Seattle): Stafford has an odd but good situation on his hands. Rookie running back Kerryon Johnson is developing into a nice addition to this offense. However, this is hurting the passing game significantly. Over the past two games Stafford has thrown the ball 26 and 22 times for 183 and 217 yards, respectively. This week the Lions face off against a Seattle defense that is ranked 2nd in total defense. The Seahawks have also allowed the fewest passing yards to opposing quarterbacks. Sit this Lion.
•Joe Flacco (@ Carolina): Joe Flacco is having a good year compared to previous seasons. The Ravens went out and got Flacco some much needed offensive weapons and they are performing well. That being said, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte is not the easiest to play in. Carolina is averaging one interception per game and are allowing just 14 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. In this tough matchup against the Panthers 7th ranked total defense, Flacco should be firmly on your bench.
• Derek Carr (vs Indianapolis): Poor Derek Carr. In one week, he has lost his starting running back, and number one wide receiver. Not to mention rumors he is on the trading block. This week will not be a good one for the Raiders signal caller. Carr has had only one game with more than 16 fantasy points and the Colts are averaging just that. 16.6 fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. The Colts may not be a contender, but they’re definitely not a push over. Leave this Carr in the garage.
Other Notable Sits:
•Case Keenum (@ Kansas City)
•Blake Bortles (vs Philadelphia)
•Eli Manning (vs Washington)
