Hi! I'm going on a college tour this summer and I'll be passing by Cornell. Do you have any tips on how to make the most of my campus visit to Cornell and advice on must-see things?
Hi!! I’d advise doing some research beforehand on what college/programs interest you, student life, and other general things about the school so that you know what to look for and can follow along/ask questions during the tour/info session. That said, I recommend signing up to do a campus tour rather than trying to do a self-guided one; Cornell’s campus is huge and even with a map it won’t be easy to tour by yourself.
The tour won’t take you everywhere, though, so I would definitely recommend checking out north campus (where the freshmen are housed), the area your program of interest is housed if it’s not covered on the tour (eg Arts Quad, ag Quad, etc.), collegetown (where many upperclassmen live and the closest area for shops and restaurants), and the commons (the downtown area that shows off a lot of Ithaca’s charm).
I’d be happy to answer any more questions you have as your visit approaches! I’m so glad you get the opportunity to check it out.
