because there are barely any content of them online so you decided to make more content of them yourself hoping the ship would get more recognition and more people would acknowledge it for it’s toxicity, somehow recognition big enough for some of the writers for that show to notice it and hope they’d change the plot for the ship dynamic to somehow be healthier/ less toxic than before or at least make them get the closure they deserve after their deep yet twisted and traumatic bond that formed between those two characters?

at the same time as the ship gets more and more recognized you’ll see hate pure pure hate and despise towards you for making such content treating the characters as if they’re real or actual people saying that you can’t do that only (yes only)because of how toxic they are which makes it not ok for them and it’s understandable! They can block you without a fight, maybe throw a fit of rage before doing that but again you know the ship doesn’t surpass any ship rules like age differences or anything like that, you feel that it’s appropriate but also still pretty much toxic so you don’t know whether to continue or reconsider

you don’t deny its toxicity neither support it and you mainly ship it because you this it’s interesting to see those two odd characters together (like any other ship in existence lmao) you want to see them interact more and enjoy the what-ifs aside from the canon aspect of theirs, so you wonder after that being said what’s a story without toxic dynamics and imperfections like those ugly toxic ships yes writers include them to experiment different dynamics between characters and to show what a relationship should not look like and yes those two characters may have a lot of potential together if it weren’t for both of their/one side’s toxic traits

Whatever the writers intentions were when they decided to include such toxic relationships maybe idk raising the awareness of these kinds of unhealthy dynamics, could be for the lore/plot or just for entertainment it’s their story/show after all, however it’s a double edged sword as people can and will normalize these toxic behaviors or even romanticize it just like how obsession is somehow seen as romantic even in 18s and before, some books used to do exactly that

This is still fiction, the fiction part is the barrier that’s keeping it contained in a place where it literally can’t do anything aside from being a tool used by us to express and create, fiction can entertain you, inspire you, push you to make your own story and be imaginative

But it’s still not a reliable moral compass

It’s based on a thousand perspectives and can be interpreted in different ways (ways even the author/writer didn’t think of and hasn’t intend to write it just for it to get interpreted those ways)

not everything in these shows/books is based on pure facts, even so it affected you in some way in the past you always have to fact check or at the very least compare it to real life events, we already have plenty of those

I think the conclusion I got is that toxic ships are still toxic (water found is sea bahaha) but you can still do whatever and enjoy what you watch or do

Think about why you watched the show/read that one book in first place Wasn’t that the point of killing boredom and entertainment is a way?to enjoy it? Then enjoy it

others may argue that “you could enjoy it without this whole ship thing” this is my way of enjoying it and could create a whole another world of fiction where I can see my favs without those toxic unhealthy feelings intact to keep my interest alive for some time, I’ll eventually get bored and find other interests, but at this moment it’s just me and this ship, is it sick or twisted to do that? I don’t know but i know for a fact that what I’m saying is absolutely not worth arguing on

as I said it’s a tool, it still has some effects that it’s not responsible for, if some don’t treat it as such it could evolve into something bigger as big as reality

which is (in my opinion) is ridiculous and can’t seem to understand their pov

Are there exceptions? shipping rules are the exceptions like age differences and family relations those are clear bases for any ship directly from reality, those in itself were rules put there from morals to protect individuals irl, also it gives you a better vision on how fine you’ll ship do if characters existed was irl

These toxic ships that I’m referring too are possibly more like those topical toxic teenage couple where they occasionally argue violently about one belittling or using the other then somehow they end up getting back together after (love/hate or enemies to lovers relationship)

again could work/ manage in fiction if you wanted them to but never irl
