Despise You/Stapled Shut - Split 7" - 1996
More, excellent thrashing powerviolence. There was always something very special about short, split seven inches! And this one is one of the best! Even a split label from Theologian and Pessimer Records

Stapled Shut - Smoke
9. Favourite thing about the roddaverse is hard, but ooooh let’s just say the magic of it all and how... obtrusive? it is or isn’t. You have areas where:
-Magic might as well not exist and the environment’s more or less analogous to Generic Modern Fantasy Land (like Del) -Magic’s kiiind of there but in a very subdued and predictable sense and born out of its environment (like people knowing/not knowing that some people can, say, talk to birds and trees, or collect memories from abandoned places) -The magic’s not *quite* off the rails, but it functions outside of what’s been established as predictable everywhere else - still born out of its environment, but has its very weird moments (like the Silver Sea, where things play by their own rules but are much more likely to behave unpredictably) -The magic’s just off the rails and controlled by a person (like Thaegan, and we had a whole discussion about witches in Deltora before; or like Tier creating an island; or Laughing Jack’s whole thing)
Anyway! this was very poorly worded but I hope you get my idea. What I like about the magic is it isn’t one note, and people’s reactions to it are very different based on what they already know or what they’re willing to roll with.
10. Something that you remember randomly and it hits you like a stampede of muddlets is the goddamn mission impossible-style Auron-dome breach. Kudos for playing to your strengths in an environment where conventional methods wouldn’t work, but let’s reflect for a moment:
-they climbed a wall with zero safety harnesses and one (1) rope Jasmine set up on her solo climb -on a cavern wall she’d never been on before with no guarantee of secure foot/handholds or ledges to stop on -Barda belly flopped on a magic dome -did I dream this up or did he jump with Jasmine and then let go? No he definitely did. I remember Lief being shit scared and catching her. God bless. -from the solo inhabitant’s perspective, three strangers who probably smell weird busted through his home from the roof -Barda genuinely belly flopped on a magic dome i remember this in vivid detail -if it didn’t work they’d land in a nest of giant spiders -they didn’t even have much of a runner to start with and it’s a miracle they were able to do it in the first place -i tried to work out the physics once but had to stop bc it was too ridiculous

various - Left Back / Let Down compilation EP [full]
Spazz, Stapled Shut, Despise You and the underestimated Crom - powerviolence at it’s peak! Great compilation, kind related to the Cry Now, Cry Later series!
A double 7″ comp is such a great concept, when it would have been easy to push a 12″
