hey: so friends and family have been saying they're not so clear on what's going on with the college faculty work action, so we took some video of teachers talking about what's at stake for them. why we're out here losing wages and dodging traffic in the cold.

work place precarity is like global warming: it's one of these mounting horror shows that we can't any longer look away from, even if we really want to. that this is taking place in the context of educational institutions is also relevant: education is an institution that demands critique for it's complicity with inexcusable distortions of history and abuses of power. that's real. But like it or not, these institutions hold court in arbitrations of the dissemination of power and truth, and for that reason, they need to be accountable to something other than the bottom line.
