A quick FYI on conventions, if a guest cancels they are not paid. Do not believe the money hungry paparazzi/autograph hounds who are upset that they aren’t getting what they want from an actor.
Do not feed them attention or give them money to feed themselves either.
The reason actors cancel close to the event is because there are attempts to get them to attend. You know how sometimes you have to juggle work meetings, or social events, and you try till the last minute and realise something has gotta give?
This is why a “professional commitments pending” clause. Otherwise actors would never book an event.
You’re also not entitled to see them at one, and they are not obligated to attend
If anyone thinks Melissa is the most canceled guest in the world I know you’ve only attended or know about few conventions
This is just a reminder that unless you watch a show by legal means, have a Nelson’s box and live in the US, boycotting a US TV show will have zero affect on its ratings.

Hey people of the tumblr and Twitter, especially the fans of a female driven superhero show that continues to defy your wants.
It’s not activism to complain about a show if you only watch through others reviews, statements or gifsets.
It’s not activism to assume single women on television loose their sexuality
It’s not activism to be upset that Alex wants kids because you do not. Both choices are valid. Wanting kids is not heteronormative either. Fun buzzword though.
It’s not activism to cling to something that has long been moved on from, nor is projecting that onto a character who is making healthy choices for herself.
It’s not activism to claim a lack of representation just because your ship is no longer sailing.
It’s really not activism to hate on a new character just because she isn’t your fav.
It’s not even in the same planet of activism when you start sending racist messages to the actress who plays said character, whether coded or not.
The predominance of the notion that fandom expectations/wants are =/= to activism is silly at best.
All of us could do with being a little bit more like Alex.
Just putting it out there, unless you have a Nielsen’s box your viewing of any show does not count.
Additionally, if you think a show that rates network average consistently on a highly contested night is in trouble, you might wanna check your bias.
Marie Kondo your viewing if you don’t like it, Supergirl owes fandom their particular special interest/afternoon special/niche wants as much as Kara owes Lena her identity.
By that I mean not all all, just in case you get it all twisted.
I am constantly confused what show people are watching, because th Supergirl I watch is way better than the shit show some of the fans talk about.
Point of fact, just because you’re myopic tiny little story isn’t being catered too it doesn’t mean the show isn’t representing a section of the community. Lesbians can and do want kids.
Superheroes can and should ask for help and *not go it alone*.
Men are not evil and just because a man helps doesn’t make the show misogynistic or anti-feminist.
Please learn what words mean before you use them. Then maybe, just maybe think before you speak. If you wouldn’t spew the hate at someone’s face, don’t be a coward and do it online.
God this fandom is exhausting, and often as bigoted and racist as the production is accused of being (but actually isn’t)
