HOOOOOOOO BOY.

so to start this off, i think it’s important to understand that fuyumi will always be. a little of sad. 

SHE’S BEEN THROUGH A LOT. fuyumi already struggles with seasonal affective disorder and ptsd and on top of that it’s gone untreated and undiagnosed for YEARS, and she really hasn’t ever had a real outlet for ANY of it. she was too busy. she had to be strong for her brothers. she had to mediate between them and her father. SHE’S HAD NO TIME TO LIKE.... PROCESS ANYTHING.

and then within the span of two or three years it’s all.... flipped upside down. natsuo moved out to go to school. shouto moves into the dorms. she no longer has to take care of either of them, she doesn’t have to defend them, she doesn’t half to calm her father anymore. enji’s probably not even home that often - he probably works far too much and that leaves fuyumi alone by herself. 

that’s really difficult for her.

at her heart, fuyumi is a deeply warm, kind, and gentle person. she’s so loving and hopeful and optimistic, and frankly? she THRIVES on people! she hates being alone! she NEEDS to be around people! so she starts tutoring again, and she visits her mom more, and she decides she’ll do classes part time to get her masters, and really it’s all just to busy herself again. and it works for a while but it’s not... a solution.

a big push in the right direction in her main timeline is kenta. he’s absolutely not a solution, but kenta has.... largely been the only one to keep her company in the wake of all that’s gone on, and he’s really like. encouraged her autonomy, shown her that she is ALLOWED to do things for herself, he’s just - he’s been there to support her. to help her grow. to lift her up. and slowly, his influence has helped her grow out of this shell of herself she’s become.

SO I THINK THE ANSWER IS: SHE’S GETTING THERE.
