Picture this. For the launch issue of ST Technology, I wanted to do a still-life portfolio of TV screens that was different (in a good way). TVs are notoriously difficult to photograph, but we needn't have worried as we commissioned Chris Brooks, a talented cameraman who's done some stellar work for the likes of Vogue, Mr Porter and Esquire (his portraits of Evgeny Lebedev at Sake No Hana for the latter are a highlight).
The plan was that he would photograph the five screens around the south-east of England over a single weekend, from the back of a rental van. The results were fantastic. This particular shot – of Samsung's award-winning D8000 screen – was achieved using a hidden portable generator to display the image of the forest there and then. Clever man.
