Wow I can’t believe that’s now been a bit more than two years since I first watched Star Trek Beyond and a certain Vulcan stole my heart.
(This was the scene I decided he was babe (and let’s not forget the later certified worried/protivtive boyfriend material))
rewatched st beyond and i just.... it’s so fun

I just rewatched it, and fuck, Star Trek Beyond is easily the best AOS film - it's basically a classic TOS episode with better special effects and a larger scope
Like, the characters? Phenomenal. The triumvirate? Going strong and finally appreciating Bones. The plot? Intriguing and meaningful. The action? A+. New characters? Hell yeah, Jaylah is my child. The score? *chef's kiss* Yorktown station saved to the soundtrack of Beastie Boys? Fuck yeah
Remember when we finally got an in-character Trek script, plot, and director to go along with the amazing new cast in Star Trek: Beyond, and fans loved it, but it didn't earn money because casual moviegoers don't want a cerebral, meaningful plot that emphasizes character development over explosions? And then that was interpreted as failure by the studio, which is now trying to bring in Quentin fucking Tarantino to destroy the flicker of soul that the franchise still had left? Which will inevitably lead to the reboot dying a pitiful death, after it was never given the chance to really live? Remember that?
...Well. At least the new Picard series looks good.
