For the first five years of Brittanyâs life, it was just her and her mother. Whitney Green was just twenty-one when she fell pregnant with her first born. In fact, it was at her graduation party that she met the man that would end up getting her pregnant. Mark was rich, charming, and drop dead gorgeous, and had just about every girl in the bar ogling him. So when he walked right over to Whitney, she couldnât believe her luck. Whitney had always been focused on her studies, so boys werenât exactly on her list of priorities. In fact, sheâd never had a one night stand before she met Mark - the only boy sheâd ever had sex with had been her high school sweetheart who sheâd broken up with during her first year of university. Whitney was enamored of Mark, so when he never called, it near enough broke her heart. The only thing that could have possibly made it harder for her, was those two little lines on the pregnancy test that showed up weeks later.
Whitney did all she could to provide a good life for her baby girl. She got a job in a clothing store, earning a minimum wage, and started renting a tiny shoe box apartment over a Chinese takeout. Life wasnât exactly easy, but as long as she had her daughter, she was happy. Whitney raised Brittany with the idea that the only two things you ever had to be in this world, was happy, and kind. Brittany loved the little bubble she lived in with her mum - she didnât know that most of her clothes came from thrift stores, or were hand-me-downs given to her by her neighbours. All of that changed when Whitney met Louis.
The two met at Whitneyâs work - Louis was a business man in need of a brand new tie, after he spilled ketchup on his right before a big board meeting. Whitney thought he was funny, and sweet, and once sheâd picked out a perfect new tie, he gave her his business card. Within just a few dates, Whitney finally introduced Louis to Brittany. Despite all of her fears, the two hit it off right away. Louis was fun and silly, and was more than happy to let Brittany style his hair with all of her favourite hair clips. Soon, Brittany and her mom were living with Louis in his luxury apartment, and her days of hand-me-down and thrift store clothes were over.
Two years down the line, and not only were Louis and Whitney married, but Brittany became a big sister. Tiffany and Brittany were instantly best friends, and Brittany vowed to be the best big sister she could be. But Brittanyâs innocence meant that often, Tiffany seemed like the older sister. It wasnât that Brittany was stupid (if anyone dared to call her that, Whitney would surely bite their head off), but she lacked the common sense that most people had. As she grew older, her mother grew worried about Brittany, and her lack of understanding of anything adult. So she took her to the doctors, and after endless examinations and therapy sessions, Brittany was diagnosed with a mild form of autism.
When Brittany started high school, Whitney couldnât help but worry about her. In middle school, Brittany had plenty of friends, due to her kind and positive nature, but high school kids were tough, and Whitney didnât want her daughter falling in with a bad crowd. Just as she did in middle school, Brittany found herself surrounded by friends, and she even managed to work her way into the popular group. Being a tall, blonde cheerleader also got her plenty of attention from the boys at school. Boys werenât the most important thing to her, but she liked the attention she got, and she wanted to be kind to all of the boys who hit on her. So sheâd go on dates, and kiss boys at parties, and by the time junior year came around, sheâd slept with about half of the boys at McKinley and earned herself the label of the school slut. Brittany didnât really mind, though. Sex was something that made her happy, and it was something she was good at, and if that made her a slut, then she didnât care.
Sophomore year was when Brittany began to explore her sexuality further, and she started sleeping with girls. Obviously, sheâd kissed girls before, but that was always at parties, and was always for some boys entertainment. But after an encounter with one of her friends on the cheerios, Brittany found herself questioning her sexuality. She loved sex, so it was hardly surprising that sex with a girl felt just as good as sex with a guy, but there was something else. A feeling that she got when she was around her fellow cheerio, that sheâd never had with anyone else before. And so she announced her sexuality to the whole school - Brittany Pierce was bisexual, and proud, and she didnât care what anyone else thought.
After she came out, a member of the New Directions reached out to her, and suggested that she joined their club. Brittany loved dancing and being a cheerio, but singing wasnât really a passion of hers, nor was it a talent that she possessed. She decided to give it a try, and to her surprise, she realised that being in the glee club was actually fun - even if Rachel Berry was the most annoying person on the planet.
Now Brittanyâs in her senior year, she wants to make every last minute count. She knows that sheâs not going to end up at some Ivy League school like some of her smarter classmates, but she really does want to go to college. She hasnât told anyone yet, because she doesnât want to jinx it, but sheâs applied for Juilliard. Sheâll tell her friends when the time is right, but for now, she just wants to enjoy her senior year and not worry too much about the future.
