Vhaeraun (pronounced: /veɪˈrɔːn/ vay-RAWN[5][31]), also called the Masked Lord, the Masked God of Night, The Shadow, and, less frequently, the Shadow Lord, the Masked Mage and the Lord of Shadow was the drow god of drow males, thievery, territory, shadow magic, spellfilchers, and evil activities on the surface, aimed to further drow goals, interests, and power there.

As an avatar, Vhaeraun appeared as a normal male drow, handsome with a slim, graceful, and toned physique. He could change his size as he wanted and appeared either with a height of 16 feet or six feet. His body was surrounded by shadow that did not just randomly lighten and darken but his body seemingly disappeared when this shadow went over him.

It was thought that he never used armor, but he was seen wearing leather armor. He always wore a black mask and a long cloak of the same hue. His eyes and/or hair could change color to reflect his emotions (red for anger, gold for triumph, blue for amusement, green for puzzlement and curiosity). His hair's default color was white with red highlight.

We all know, how Ophelia treats drow and wizards – and naturally, those two things combined are a pure blast. I’m 90% sure that the sole reason for her visiting Sshamath was her libido. Yet, here’s the thing.

It occurred to me that aside from physical attractiveness and danger factor, the sheer exoticness of drow are main reasons my bard felt so strong pull towards them. But when you land in the middle of a patriarchal magocracy, filled to the brim with male drow wizards, you suddenly realize that… they all look practically the same.

As far as I remember, the D&D manuals explicatively describe drow as a race of ‘little variety’ due to constant chasing after genetic and physical perfection. Indeed, dark elves are beautiful – and annoyingly similar to each other. I wouldn’t be surprised if after the first shock, Ophelia suddenly became absolutely unimpressed with this fact. 

It is quite the explanation, how she survived her visit in that city (because when the charm disappears, one doesn’t lose her mind over a wizard who just winked at her). It’s also possible that the realization of how drow are identical, resulted in Ophelia actively searching for differences, characteristics that would make the particular individual stand out among his kin – be it an unusual physical trait or an uncommon personality trait. Atypical eye color? Skinny body suggesting some kind of illness in the past? Irregular facial features, challenging the stereotypical drow beauty? Or maybe surprising empathy, submissive behavior despite the clear position of power, shyness?

Yes, that drow are the most interesting. The rest is just… average. ‘Yes, you’re pretty and deadly. Now, MOVE, I HAVE SHIT TO DO!’
