Paris After Marville - last Saturday
at the Alliance Française in Toronto. The show comes down Sunday am - so these are the last few days to see it installed here.
From the audience at Stephen Bulger Gallery. (Thanks Surendra)
Marville at the Metropolitan
It was wonderful to see the photographs again last night - they are becoming old friends and there is nothing like seeing the actual prints. They are so much more than just the content. Imagine a 12"x16" contact print in your mind and then think what it is like to see for real what is normally only available in reproduction. Seeing them beautifully framed on the wall is also different from handling them in the archive - they look so perfect it's hard to imagine that I got to sit with them so informally just a few years ago. I have no photos from the opening so you just have to believe me that it was special. Super nice people. My book sat next to Sarah Kennel's great catalogue for the show in the shop display.
