it’s highly unlikely that they went to the same school, considering gihun canonically went to daehan technical high school. sangwoo wasnt looking for a career within that path and it doesnt match his path to snu/investment banking so i assume that no, they didn’t.

BUT hey this makes for some good middle school angst, where they cry over not being able to go to the same school anymore. and also im sure after school they’d just hang out as normal

i think sangwoo either went to a standard or a private hs (leaning on the latter due to his intelligence, his mother may have used a LOT of the little money they had to pay for his education which to me just fuels sangwoo’s guilt since public high schools seem to lack the same subsistence as private high schools.)

After the first game when everyone votes to leave, we see Sang-woo sit and look to the distance. I like to think that he’s thinking about Gi-hun. Thinking about how idiotic he must be for accepting the invite to a death game. That’s when he decides he needs to meet up with Gi-hun again.

Gi-hun and Sang-woo meet again and it’s angry. There’s screams and tears and hugs so tight nobody can breathe, and finally, there’s nothing. It’s quiet and soft and it says more than either of them could. After a few beats they both mutter a soft ‘I’m sorry,’ while still embracing each other.

Gi-hun holds Sang-woo’s shirt as they make their way throughout the city, visiting Sang-woo’s mother in her little shop.It was nice and peaceful, a huge break from the violence that was the games.

After the day in the city, they both make it back to Sang-woo’s tiny apartment. It might have been small, but it soft and it felt like home. They get comfy in the bed and talk. They talk about everything, from what cat Gi-hun fed that morning, to if they go back to the games.

When they wake up the next morning, they agreed that they were not going to go back. They weren’t going back with the possibility that they weren’t going to make it back. The money wasn’t a promise, and their life was worth mare than a billion won.

them snuggling/cuddling, while i’m slightly embarrassed to say so, is also something i love to see. just— being within each others warmth is so fucking intimate to me, and i wish i saw more fanart of them holding each other. being so physically close. as freaky as i am, non-sexual intimacy is one of my favorite things to ever exist. to me, physical touch is a major love language for gihun, and i think when given the correct/proper amount of care and affection (aka not being overly pushy about it), sangwoo would also enjoy it.

i think he’s very attentive to small details and good at remembering things other people may have missed. for example: when younger if his mother said that she’s stressed, he might show love by doing extra work so she feels less bad.

also i feel like he probably bandaged gi-hun up a lot when he was being reckless and getting into trouble. (yes!!!! he absolutely wanted to patch gi-hun’s hands after tug of war ☹️☹️)

he’s not a big fan of doing huge things, and definitely finds it more meaningful to do smaller things for people.

but he cares for the people he cares about and he cares about them a lot! he’s just, like you said, not super outward about that and i think by now his loved ones have picked up on that.

my personal hc is that sang-woo was a really anxious kid and gi-hun helped serve as his comforter. it went the other way, too; when gi-hun was feeling anxious, sang-woo knew how to comfort him. his tone would always be similar to the tone he used when saving him in red light green light

i feel like sang-woo would have had a big interest in psychology but written it off as an “easy major” (it’s not ftr but at least where i’m from it’s seen as less rigorous) i’ve alluded to sang-woo having an interest in psychology in my fics before, actually! however, i could also see him doing something more history-based. (idk i’m not very verse in history majors lol <- is bio major)

i also think he’d be good at math stuff but not want to dedicate his entire life to something like that if he were given the choice.

I have a question, what are your thoughts on Sangwoo's religious beliefs? Does he have any? Was he raised religious? Lastly, how did his religious beliefs impacts his actions in the games?

Personally, I think he was raised in a Christian household. The internalized homophobia, the guilt having a religious favor to it, and others give me that impression

i personally think that sang-woo himself wasn’t super religious, but his mother was buddhist. however he heard a lot about christianity and was raised in proximity to christians due to the people he attended school with and was probably influenced by that a bit. that’s also probably why he developed his own non-religious beliefs.

i feel his internalized homophobia stems more from a fear of being unsuccessful and cultural norms, rather than religious beliefs, considering he did grow up in the ‘80s.
