Embroidery appreciation post! I’ve been doing embroidery since 2014! 6 years! In that time I’ve made over 210 embroidery originals. Swipe to see them all 💖the mermaid at the very end of this was my first embroidery ever. Since I was already doing illustration and painting, I decided to combine the mediums and that’s where the second to last piece came from which started my mixed media fiber art journey. Prior to me doing mixed media embroidery I’d never seen it before and my technique is something I attribute to my work specifically. There weren’t many people doing embroidery when I started and I got lots of comments from older people saying that it was an “old lady craft”, which I was totally okay with lol. It’s been cool to see the scene grow over the years and look back at how I’ve developed being completely self taught. I know I don’t do it the “right way” and I rarely look anything up, so it’s hard to give tips etc but my approach to art is to make it up as I go along. Embroidery is my favorite medium and I just wanted to pat myself on the back and thank my hands for all they’ve done for me. And of course thank you all for appreciating my pieces and giving them homes! Do you own one of these? 💖#squidvishuss
