Squeeze casting ( 1 ) ( 2 ) ( 3 ), also known as liquid metal forging, is a combination of casting and forging processes. Molten metal is solidified under pressure within a closed die, wherein the pressure and surface of the die together allow for rapid cooling and fine-grained final parts that are essentially pore-free. Though it can be used for ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, it is primarily used with aluminum, magnesium, and copper alloys.
