Marquesan Swamphen is a (presumably) extinct species of swamphen. They were endemic to the Marquesas islands, Hiva Oa, and Tahuata. It may have lived in the early 1900. Its appearance is only described by a probable depiction by Paul Gauguin in 1902. In the painting the bird is being killed by a dog. It is not a realistic painting but in the painting the swamphen appears to be indigo or blue, with teal wings and face.

It was first recognized as its own species in the 1980s, but was only formally described in 2021. An international team of ornithologists named and described this species along with another Cisticola in the floodplains of central Tanzania. The other species described at the same time is the white-tailed cisticola. Both species became isolated and diverged from their sister-species between 2.5 and 3.5 million years ago. There is immense human related pressure to the floodplain, threatening both species. The authors of the paper describing their discovery suggests both should be classified as endangered.

Its well known that the Moriori hunted the bird, however they survived long after the arrival of the Moriori people. Its unknown how abundant the birds were or how often they were hunted, but none the less they likely survived until the introduction of invasive species due to European settlement

Bermuda saw-whet owl is a species of owl that was endemic to Bermuda. Fossil records and accounts of the bird in the 17th century describe its existence. Saw-whet owls usually are experts at hunting mice and the like, but with the lack of small animals on Bermuda it likely hunted the native Bermuda skink, as well as insects like the Bermuda Buckeye Butterfly. It had gone extinct due to human colonization that introduced non-native predators and deforestation.

Guadeloupe parakeet The Guadeloupe parakeet is a hypothetical species of parrot that would be endemic to Guadeloupe. They were described by Jean-Baptiste Labat as "Those of Guadaloupe are about the size of a blackbird, entirely green, except a few small red feathers, which they have on their head. Their bill is white. They are very gentle, loving, and learn to speak easily" There are no remains of this parrot so their status as its own species is hypothetical. supposedly It would have gone extinct by the 18th century.
