Squash and stretch.
The principal of squash and stretch like all of the other principles were written about in a book called “the illusion of life.” This principle suggests that only stiff object like a bowling ball won't change shape while in motion. The forces that are against the object give it to squash and stretch. The amount of squash and stretch an abject has relates to the flexibility, i.e a bouncy ball will have more squash and stretch than a rugby ball. the important thing to remember about this is that the mass of the object has to stay the same so if it gets stretched then it must also become thinner at the same time.

Today we made a ball bounce animation inside of TV paint without using any reference. when I played through this rough animation though it didn't look quite right so I got some feedback from Helen who said its good but it starts off a bit slow and the squash and stretch is quite jagged so if I tidied that up slightly then it would look smooth I took her advice and the second version (not in this post) looks allot better. I also added spider-like legs to the ball so that I could also animate some secondary action which was explained with a really helpful Alan Becker tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjBHWw1TbP4 )
