THE PROGRESSIVE TRACKS SHOW #221 (#116 REDUX) - A Tribute to Chris Squire
Life has gotten in the way of The Progressive Tracks Show this week, and so I find myself having to (wanting to) play an older (pre-Progzilla Radio) show. What to pick... what to pick...
Having just marked the second anniversary of Chris Squire’s death, as well as his posthumous induction with Yes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... this pick was a no-brainer, really: Loads of the ‘Fish’ packed into a mere 60 minutes.
There will never be another... Chris Squire. R.I.P.
ProgTracks Notes: I recorded this just a few days after Chris’ death, so excuse the occasional cracking of my voice (I still get teary listening to some of this music). I still have the deepest admiration and respect for Tom Gagliardi of Gagliarchives for doing a 5-hour tribute show that very Sunday Chris died (which I listened to live in its entirety, tears streaming down my face).
And as far as the DJ’ing... I’ve done over 100 shows since this one aired. Hopefully I’m improving(?). ;o) And if you wonder about the choice of tracks I played, I was (and still am as a community radio DJ) limited somewhat by FCC regulations on the total number of tracks I can play by one band. Choosing was difficult!
There’s always time for absolute classic progressive rock! So take the time to put on some headphones, sit back, and enjoy this show (or any past Progressive Tracks Show, if you go to: http://www.progzilla.com/?s=progtracks )!
