hmmm. the first one that comes to mind I probably shouldn't say 😂

You know, the riskiest offerings actually are the ones that come from the heart, when I can FEEL or have been told that something would be appreciated but I myself don't really understand why haha.

🏺 An ancestor (blood or chosen)

There's a slave ancestor I have that multiple other people have picked up on around me. She did me a real solid that I don't know if I can ever repay her for, but also I don't think she views it as a thing that I'm indebted to her for, she was doing her job as my ancestor.

I was really confused for a long time because she was seemingly a maternal ancestor but my mom is white? It wasn't until my mother did a DNA test and learned she had slave ancestry herself that this mystery got solved for me!

🌱 A skill you're working on

The hard part of this is picking ONE skill haha. I usually go into a year with one or two things I really want to focus on, but this year I've been all over the place. I think probably I really have been wanting to work on my relationships with particular spirits.....but what I've been doing more of is trying to really hone my ability to get super specific in divination. I could be doing these two things together but I'm very stupid haha.

🍁 Something you miss about an older version of your practice

There's a very specific kind of wonder that I used to have that I haven't felt as much lately. Like, it used to be more of a DIY thing to get a working altar set up. Even just getting a candle or a new colored bandana to put down for my altar cloth was a big deal. Finding something perfect outside to represent the seasons or the elements or the divine. I haven't had the right space to even have an altar like I used to anymore, and I can feel its lack in my life and practice.

🔥 A favourite ritual

I really had to think about this because I'm not a big ritual person in basically any sense of the word, be it formal ritual or even just consistent little rituals?

But I DO recite the same chant every time I wash my hands. It's meant to help both with a magical element (cleansing and protecting) but also the timing of the chant helps me make sure I washed my hands long enough 😂

I've talked more than once about the importance of my witch's word and I feel like I'm talking too much about it? Although, fun fact, Mercury (the planet of communication) is my second house (the house that rules your values), so it makes sense through that lens, huh?
