Spotastic birthday pixel art (April 12, 2021)
I fell asleep and dreamt that I was telling Shannon O’Neill how important it was for her to read the first volume of a new Stevie Nicks biography.
heads up! new Shannon video by UCB/LASH!
So yesterday I got to work and after I explained that even though I took ZQuil at 230 in the morning, I didn't get to sleep till 7 and THEN the Z kicked in and I slept through my alarm and missed my doctor's appointment and I felt like human crap in an ugly skin suit, my boss told me I could take a sick day today. I was like OK! Because if someone says I can take a day off, I say OK! But then honestly I was like, all I'm gonna do is catch up on sleep and I have no more paid days off so maybe I shouldn't... Then I remembered I had an insurance check I was going to deposit & pay my shrink with and I was like maybe I should deposit this anyway just in case I need money this week... Cut to today: I woke up half an hour ago and saw that the show with Shannon O'Neill, Tami Saghar, and Aidy Bryant at UCB that I wasn't going to get to go to because of work and no money had more tickets opening up and I was ON IT and now I get to see those awesome ladies, after treating myself to a yummy dinner, and then I'm gonna head up to see TCGS featuring that dreamy Juan and EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!!!

Well it was just the loudest I've ever heard you say anything. And it was 'cranberry.'
-my BFF after Stepfathers tonight.
I've said 10000x how much I admire Shannon O'Neill and tonight at Strangers Wanted, she proved herself to be great once again. I always respect the way that she won't allow anyone to feel ashamed for doing something they seem to feel is laughable or embarrassing, whether it's loving "Frozen," going to a school that's not well-known, or what have you. Tonight, her second guest revealed that he used to edit comedy videos and she brought his website up on the screen. He was sort of hesitant or self conscious, but his reel was funny and had so many great things in it. We all loved it and at one point he said that watching it made him feel like he'd lost something. Shannon turned it into (sorry i hate this phrase but it's the only thing i can think of) a teaching moment and encouraged him to return to this because he was really good at it. It's something that I've noticed with Shannon, whether it's at Strangers Wanted, on TCGS, or even when I saw her hosting Lady Jam: She seems to find opportunities to lift people up and inspire them to do better or to try and achieve something. What I like so much about Strangers Wanted is that Shannon has a genuine interest in people. She knows exactly what to ask and can always make it entertaining to watch. But my favorite moments at Strangers have been the ones like this when everyone is on board, supporting some total stranger. Wouldn't it be great if he took this to heart and found what he had lost, went on to continue creating something and achieved his dreams?
And that is why Shannon is great.
PS: during the second set of Stepfathers, I shouted out "cranberry!" as a suggestion, an homage to this week's TCGS video "A Word With Shannon O'Neill." They used it. It was funny. I was am still mortified that I shouted it out.
You guys, seriously. SERIOUSLY. GO TO THIS SHOW.
the more people that show up the less conspicuous it is that I go every single month because i'm overly enthusiastic about Shannon O'Neill. I've GOT to be getting on her nerves by now.
This week in class, one of my classmates said "that lady suggested that I go to SPANK." I stopped myself from saying 'THAT LADY' INSPIRED ME TO TAKE THIS CLASS AND HER NAME IS SHANNON O'NEILL AND YOU WILL BOW DOWN!!
