“Jeremy, you go in that room first.”
“Wait, what?”
They stand at the entrance to the house, the lock in just started, and they’re dividing up which areas of the dark house to cover and record. Jeremy got stuck with camera duty, holding the heavy thing carefully and yet again regretting every life decision he’s ever made.
Why did he think hunting ghosts would be a fun career? Why did he agree to getting scared out of his mind at creepy haunted places overnight? Sometimes he wishes he could punch past Jeremy across the face.
“Well you’re good at telling if ghosts are here, and apparently the entity only shows up when people are alone and you have a camera. See if you can get anything.”
“Fuck no. You do it Geoff.”
“I’m the boss and I’m telling you to do it!”
“Well why can’t you do it?!”
“Because he’d just end up going ass forward again,” Ryan says besides the squabbling pair. “And we need usable footage.”
“Well I don’t want to go alone! It’s supposed to be a demon! I’m not fucking with it by myself!”
“I’ll go with you,” Gavin pipes up, flashing Jeremy a quick smile. “I have to set up the static cameras anyway. This way neither of us have to be alone!”
Jeremy lets out a small sigh of relief and smiles over at Gavin.
“Boys you’re all pretty,” comes the crackling voice of Lindsay through the walkie talkies. “Just get started already. We’re only here one night.”
The boys grumble their “ok”s and “alright”s and shuffle into position in the house, cameras on, and nerves buzzing.
