WHILE YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT SH3 MONSTERS CAN I COMPLAIN REAL QUICK that while everyone always compares Split Worm to a penis + vagina conception metaphor and that's fine (although boring), but no one ever talks about how it's a direct reference to the SH1 boss Split Head??? and how important Split Head (and by association, Split Worm) is as an echo of Alessa things???

And haha I apologize for not bringing that up MYSELF, I wasn’t lying when I said I was tired tonight, rofl.
But yes, honestly the vast majority of the monsters in SH3 are connected to the ones in SH1, for obvious reasons! The Double-Heads / Groaners, the Slurpers / Rompers, etc etc. The Splitworm also is similar to the Twinfeeler in a number of ways. I’ve seen people criticize SH3 for being more or less a direct parallel to SH1 in terms of the general narrative, but tbh it’s actually one of the reasons I love SH3 so much. The connections to the first game are completely intentional and make perfect sense within the series’ universe.
