Mindfulness Spiritual Quotes For Spiritualists #49
Living Spiritually: Transcending Physical Lockdown
What is physical?
All the terms and definitions in languages were taught to people by others. Whether it is in school or by one's parents; and the most commonly known definition of “physical” usually refers to the material world.
The material world- consisting of matter.
Matter can be defined as physical material. In school matter is taught to be solid, liquid, and gas. The tangible.
Another way the word ‘matter’ can be defined, is as a word to signify something of importance.
For example: “You really matter to me.” “It doesn’t matter what people think of you.”
What matters is what is important.
So the two ways the word “matter” is most often used, is to refer to something material and to acknowledge something of importance.
Words and the way we use them subconsciously affect the way we perceive and therefore define our realities.
So, when we are looking at “matter” as nothing more than the mundane, material world with nothing deeper to it- we begin to define this mundanely perceived reality as what matters.
“What matters to me is keeping my job.” “What matters to me is having a lot of followers on social media.” “What matters to me is getting money.”
Physical matter and what matters, become the same. What is tangible becomes all that is, because the material world is all that is.
Because of the way we are taught to define our reality in school, we develop a complete disconnect with the spirit- that is, the consciousness that pervades physical reality. When we learn about matter and the physical world, it is never explored in a conscious way.
You were taught that matter is just matter, cut and dry, just solid, liquid, and gas and that’s all there is to it.
But, in fact, matter is the condensation of something deeper, something important; because what matters is what is important.
The physical world and spiritual world are usually defined as separate, but they are in fact one and the same. When you lift the veil of illusion, the lines of separation between them disappear. In other words, the physical becomes spiritual.
The physical world is a condensation of spiritual energy. It is not separate from that energy; it is a manifestation of that energy.
So what is important (what matters) about physical matter- is the spirit of it; the energy it represents.
The physical is a symbol of something much deeper. So long as the physical is simply mundane, you will not be able to extract the nectar of truth from the hidden meaning of what you are experiencing.
People are extremely confused. They are going crazy every minute of the day. Having crazy thoughts, cycling through trauma, over thinking everything, stressing about things that aren’t even important, lying about things- doing one thing or another that is completely whacked out, but looked at as normal.
This is because people are told to define their realities as people. As their facebook bio: name, age, date of birth, location, partner, children, high school, college, career, house, car, hobbies, etc. The same old boring shit with no deeper meaning to it.
Because the entire truth of reality is completely suppressed as the material world is not known to hold deeper meaning, reality becomes unbearable. When you don’t watch the world play out as an unfolding of spiritual energy, it becomes a shit show.
Your cat died, you went through serious trauma as a child, your children don’t talk to you, you are struggling with money, and you’ve been lying to your husband about something for 45 years and feel terrible every day.
There is nothing deeper to it, so it’s just life.
But, then what would really be the point? What would matter about it?
When you define your reality as the unfoldment of something deeper, you can extract the nectar of truth from each moment you experience.
It is no longer just a physical, mundane, meaningless reality- but every moment matters; every moment will reveal truth to you.
It’s no longer a shit show. Your childhood trauma happened for a reason, it mattered, it was important for you- because it taught you something. Whether or not you choose to extract the nectar of truth from the shit show the material world brings is your choice, but if you do so- you are able to make use of it, giving it meaning.
Similarly, if you are feeling terrible about your lies- that is the spirit communicating to you. You must extract the nectar of truth from this feeling and do what liberates you- confessing your lies and learning not to lie again.
Each moment can teach us something deep and profound, if only we allow it to. The spirit can experience what it needs to and extract the substance from it, using it as fuel to move upward and onward.
Looking at each moment for the deeper truth of it allows one to gain understanding and wisdom. Truth is revealed in each moment, everything happens for you to learn. Because physical reality is almost a playground for the spirit, everything that happens here is purposeful.
Being open to the truth of reality, one is able to experience life fearlessly- open to the truth which will unfold from the experience.
This is understanding what really matters in life.
It doesn’t matter what house you live in, what car you drive, or how much is in your bank account- what really matters is the truth of the experience and what that will bring to your spirit.
Everything being an unfoldment of a deeper spiritual energy means that every experience contains a substance which can be extracted. The nectar of truth.
In the state of being open to life as a teacher, to the physical world as a manifestation of the spirit- one may see the truth of reality.
There is a hidden reality and a seen reality, similar to the subconscious and conscious minds, night and day, yin and yang, etc.
For example, the hidden reality is the energy of the yin and yang, while the seen reality would be the physical manifestation of those energies symbolized by the sun and the moon. The sun and moon are seen, the yin and yang energy behind them are unseen- yet, the energy behind the sun and the moon are felt by all beings in the world.
The night is calming, grounding, dark, feminine- while the day is energizing, active, light, and masculine. Though the sun and moon are mere physical states of matter, the energy they represent can be felt in vibration by beings everywhere.
Just because one is the tangible symbol or seen reality, and the other is the energy behind it or hidden reality- doesn’t mean that one exists any more than the other. They both complement each other, in the same way that there is no yin without yang. Without the hidden reality there is no seen, and vice versa.
When you completely neglect the hidden reality and only acknowledge the seen, you are closed off from the entire truth of reality. If one cannot exist without the other, if you fail to acknowledge the unseen- you never see the truth of the seen. You are merely stuck, seeing nothing but illusion if you cannot experience the substance behind the ‘seen.’
Only removing the labels you have been taught to put on reality will you be able to see the truth of it. By removing all that is not original to you, as Mooji said- you may experience the truth.
Labels have been put on reality from such a young age that removing them and the programming and conditioning therefrom is an essential step in redefining our realities. Removing all that is not original to you means going back to before you were ever impressed upon by someone else’s definition of reality.
The original you, is not your material possessions or clothes. It is not even your body. It's not your thoughts or feelings.
You were only told that your appearance defines you. Your clothes, your house, your car, your body, your face, your thoughts. But what if you were to remove all of that? What would be left?
Only that which is original to you would be left: your spirit, your essence.
In this original source of yourself, there are no attachments. The impermanence of this world is discovered, and the illusion of it.
With no attachment to this world, there is no attachment to the illusions. No attachments to the thoughts, circumstances, outcomes, feelings, happenings, possessions- all that is left is to simply be with truth.
“When ignorance is destroyed by knowledge of self then, like the sun, knowledge illumines ultimate reality.” - The Bhagavad-Gita
Truth is revealed when one can be open to peer through the veil of maya, convincing us that the seen reality is true. When we can lift the veil to see that which is in the hidden reality, we open up to the true essence of ourselves. There is no longer a mundane, physical reality- but a magical, spiritual experience when one awakens to their true essence.
One may transcend physical-lockdown by understanding it to be the condensation of spirit, using matter as a springboard to the divine. Live under that premise and experience the magic of each moment, guiding your spirit to ascend upward and onward.
