We are going into Punk Rock today! I give you: The Distillers! They are no longer a band anymore, but still worth checking out. They were fronted by the amazing Brody Dalle who is now married to Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Them Crooked Vultures). The Distillers formed in LA in 1998 and released the album, The Distillers (EP) in 1999. The album I'm featuring today was their major debut album, Coral Fang which was released in 2003. The artwork shown is the original which is also on their vinyl -- there is also a censored version (yellow with animals on it). This song was one of their singles off of Coral Fang and I absolutely love it. Brody Dalle constantly cites Nirvana and Hole as major musical/vocal style influences and it is very evident in this track, I believe. I like this song because it is really raw instrumentally and vocally. The lyrics are the words of someone who is looking for direction; someone in real desperation. Brody Dalle's voice really embodies this in an aggressive, heart retching sort of rage.
There you go! I hope you all like this or are inspired to look more into this band, genre, or just new music in general.
I don't know too much about this genre, so if anyone could give me anymore suggestions, that would be lovely!!
Tell me what song you choose and/or your thoughts on this song choice?
