Fly the Banners Bright || Cloud & Auron
The port of Luca was the largest in all of southern Spira, second in the world only to that of the capital of Bevelle. And though Bevelle was well and truly grand - in scope, in feel, in history - Luca was cosmopolitan, where one could find people from all over Spira and from all walks of life. The city and its people did not constrain itself by tradition as Bevelle did, loosening the barriers between social classes and professions, and the difference was striking. If Bevelle was the pinnacle of order and structure, then Luca was barely-constrained cheerful chaos.
Blitz season was in full swing, though the initial tournament had come and gone already. Lines of colourful pennants were strung between the upper levels of buildings and banners waved in the breeze. Luca was always a merry city, by the standards of Spira, but this was the season where it truly came alive. The natural ebb and flow of the city’s energy was at a high, with the chatter and bustle of people filling the streets.
Auron disliked crowds. But Luca was Luca, and he didn’t mind staying in the city for short periods of time. His concern for this visit was mostly for his companion, who had before now only seen the small island villages of Spira. Besaid was tiny, that much had certainly not changed, and even though Kilika had expanded in the Eternal Calm, it hardly held a candle to Luca. Even if he had lived in cities as large as Zanarkand, this world was still new to Cloud, and Auron didn’t know what his companion would think of it. He glanced over to the younger man, gauging his reaction.
"Well, you wished to get to the mainland. Here we are."
