I agree with this mostly!
So for me equinox/solstice/crossquarters are more like doorways that mark the entry into a new phase of the year. If you've noticed the aesthetics I post on my blog around autumn equinox are different for autumn's waxing which is different from midautumn/Halloween and different from autumn's bare and brown end in November and different from autumns frosty transitioning to winter in late November-December. There's like.. 5 autumns displayed here lol. Each season has its moments of peaks and waning and I observe the moments in between too! In my practice I have periods of time that span from a week/week and a half to observe when the season is waxing and waning. (Cross quarters can be thought of as the full moons of the season and solstice/equinoxes as the new moon). The periods of waxing are early-middle of the middle months so October for fall when everything is richly colored, January for winter when it's blizzard season and everything is snowy, April for spring when the blossoms are out and July for summer when it's perfect beach weather. All of the solstice/equinoxes just barely look like the seasons they represent. For the waxing periods I go out and immerse myself in nature and do magic outside, just like basically you said! I think it's good to go on a trip to the woods or the beach or do activities like ice skating, spring picnic etc and collect seasonal things in nature for spells like snow water and sea shells.
For the waning it's the transitioning periods in between so for the harvest transition that just passed I posted my fire ciders since it's pickling season, for the frost transition in November to December I close my garden and work on making gifts, for the thawing transition I spring clean my house and my body (especially cause it's the rainy season so the rain is a good cleansing metaphor) and the green transition from spring to summer is when I get my garden ready and sow seeds.
The waning and waxing periods are long (longer than a day at least lol) and focus mostly on activities than celebration. I made a post about it but I'm on mobile and I covered most of the points anyway.
If you ever feel like there's a period of time to observe the seasons other than a big hooplah on one day I'm just saying I agree and do that too!✨
