Spidercule post (whaaaat?)- lol just saw a random luchador come across my fyp and the mask reminded me of an exchange I put in my fic where Peter 1's MJ is meeting the other two and hanging out (because I messed around with the plot a whole bunch, it didn't happen like the movie at all) and she kinda asks-
"Okay I get that you're all different Peter Parkers who became Spiderman- sorry, Spider-man... in slightly different universes... but how come you all ended up with a costume design that looks like a Mexican wrestler?"
And Peter 2 answers, thinking it's another one of the commonalities- "Because that's what it's based on? I started by trying to do underground fights and my costume was pretty bad and I didn't do it for very long but I saw other masked fighters and learned how to make a better mask design from them..."
Which is not really canon to the Tobey movies but it does vibe with his origin, I mean, it would totally make sense for him to pick up costume materials and techniques from wrestling since there are not other established super heroes in his universe, compared to Peter 1 who grew up seeing Iron Man and Captain America etc.
And Peter 3 looks at him with that mind blown kinda amused what did you just say please say more right now face and goes, "You fucking what?" Because this version of Peter 3 is dating Deadpool and has no filter. "I designed my mask based on some sunglasses lenses that I got at the gas station that had that shape because, you know, it was the nineties..."
And Peter 1 is fascinated because yeah why do their masks all look so similar? Tony was the one who made his iconic suit (I guess technically Peter could have drawn it but it is a far cry from the one he made first) and it really is wild that all three of their costumes look so similar in that distinctive way. Spiders have round eyes, why would they all decide to make that design? (The answer is the power of the narrative.)
