You had stood outside his door for a sold two minutes by now. You used to waltz in as if you lived there - which you did until around a week ago. You had raised your hand to knock around 7 times now, never actually following through. Thankfully, Nikki had seen you through the window moments earlier,  leaving you extremely startled when she opened the door with a wide grin spread across her face. “Y/N! Love! I haven’t seen you in so long, oh it’s so good to have you back.” She smiled, pulling you into a hug.

“Hi Nikki,” you smiled falsely, “It’s nice to see you too, unfortunately I’m just back for my charger. Mum decided three days of texting her through my roommate’s phone was enough.”

“Oh did you leave it here? I would have dropped it off.” She smiled sadly at you, knowing how hard her son must have hurt you. 

“No don’t worry about it. I’ll just go grab it now.” you nodded, excusing yourself from her pitiful looks.

You made your way up the stairs, hoping Harry was no longer in his room and out with Harrison somewhere. You didn’t bother knocking out of habit, after all you had basically lived in that room for months on end. 

Entering his room was anti-climatic. You don’t know why you expected some big change, but it wasn’t there. Everything was the exact same, including the photos that documented your relationship. They were still tacked to his bedhead, where you had placed them after discovering your boyfri- ex boyfriends, amazing talent. You pushed away the painful memories and pulled the charger out. As you stood up, a photo caught your eye. Harry had taken it, of course. It was from a day when you were snowed in, thus causing the entire Holland family, plus you, to be trapped inside all day. You and Harry had retreated to your room and he couldn’t help but capture the moment you laughed at his dumb jokes. You gently lifted it off of the wall, the bluetac sticking still. Flipping it over, there was a rough inscription on the back, “My better half”. You knew he had written it a long time ago, and yet you were hopeful that he may actually still feel that way. Before you knew it, a single tear dropped onto the photo, pulling you out of the trance you had been in as the door opened. 

“Y/N.” He said abruptly. 

You turned, forgetting the photo and the tears as soon as you saw him. 

“Fuck.” You mumbled under your breath, wiping your cheeks. “Harry, sorry, I didn’t mean to call over when you were here.” you said. 

“It’s okay, it was bound to happen, right?” He smiled weakly. 

You nodded with a smile back. He was right, it’s just convenient that it happened sooner than later. You placed the photo down on his desk, leaving it up to him to stick it back up or throw it away. Picking the charger up, you  looked at Harry. After months of learning his habits, you got pretty good at placing his expressions. But this was one you’d never seen before, you had no idea how to describe it, but you felt the exact same. 

“Are you sure you got your one? You always steal mine remember,” Harry said, snapping out of his gaze with a small smile.

He pushed past you slightly to pull the second charger out of the plug. He was right, you did always steal his charger. Not on purpose of course, it just kinda happened. And so in efforts to get you to use your own for once, he had written “Harry is my idol!” on the base of it. When you saw his scrappy handwriting you couldn’t help but smile and laugh a little. Your laugh quickly turned to a sob, realising that moments like that with Harry weren’t going to happen again. 

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked, reaching an arm out to rest on yours.

You jerked away from his touch, “You don’t get to do that anymore.” you said harshly. “You don’t get to break up with me and then act like you care.” You knew you were hurting him, hell you were hurting yourself by saying those words. But you couldn’t bare to stop yourself, let alone look him in the eyes. 

the hospital was bustling with activity as more and more new admissions came rolling in. This chaos was caused by an accident in a near by park. Someone had created a bomb that contained alien technology and was set of at 2:34 pm. The bomb destroyed an entire professional soccer field in one sweep. Many were injured, but luckily no casualties…..yet. 

You, a volunteer at that the hospital, had to tend to all of the call bells of the patients that came up on the intercom screen, asking for anything they needed. And depending on what they needed, you could tend to them. If the patient had asked for a medical emergency you would call the nurse for that specific patient and inform them of their patients needs. During this surge of patients, you were getting call bells from both sides of the nursing floor, including calls from the hallway (there wasn’t enough space in the rooms for patients, therefore makeshift rooms were created in the hallway with the curtains that were installed years ago). You answered every call and tended to all of the patients you could. You called nurses left and right and were getting overwhelmed. 

But finally, you reached the last patient on the screen, room 396 bed B, Peter Parker. You clicked the blinking box and asked the patient, “ How may i help you?” The patient didn’t respond, meaning you needed to go to their room personally to inquire what they needed. 

You passed by the other rooms down the hall, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396. 

You walked in and smiled at the patient on the side closest to you, A bed. You walked to the far end of the room slowly and knocked on the wall before you checked on the patient. 

“Come in,” the patient said, you could tell that the patient was male, but sounded fairly young. You pulled the curtain aside to see a man in about his twenties. The first thing you noticed was his face. Then you saw his body, half naked. Practically sculpted by sculptors. 

“H-hello, i was just wondering if i could speak to my nurse about my discharge?”

 You didn’t hear a word he said, you were too busy memorizing his pulchritudinous face. His face was so breathtakingly beautiful that you just couldn’t look away. 

“Hey? you okay?” His words snapped you back to reality and once you realized that you were staring you immediately blushed a deep red . “U-uh? Can you repeat that?” He let out a breathy chuckle and asked you again for his nurse. “Y-yeah sure, let me j-just…g-go page your nurse o-okay?” you mentally face palmed and cursed your wicked mouth for not agreeing with you. 

You stepped outside of the room and freaked out internally while holding one hand to your chest. He was a dream. But first you had to get his nurse. 

You walked swiftly to the machine to page the patients nurse. “Nurse Adam to room 396 bed B, Nurse Adam to room 396 bed B,” you announced. Nurse Adam looked at you from her desk and smiled, signaling a ‘thank you’ through her smile. Then you saw her walk away to her patients room.

After a few minutes, you saw Nurse Adam making her way to the nurses station, where you sat. She smiled at you when she reached you, giving you a message, “ The patient, Parker, wants to speak with you. Probably wants more ice water or something.” So, again, you walked to room 396 bed B. Standing outside the door you began to hyperventilate. He was so handsome and seemed so kind, you didn’t want to embar- 'Hold on…,’ you thought, ’ Why am I freaking out? He’s one of my patients…..’ At that you calmed down….but just a bit. 

You walked to the far end of the room and knocked on the wall again to signal you had arrived. “Come on in” You shuffled to the side of the curtain that was open with your hands held together in front of you, looking slightly down. “Y-you asked for m-…me? D-do you need ice water? " 

You usually weren’t this nervous around patients, but this particular patient, was different. And he had his shirt off so that made it ten times harder for you to speak. He smiled a small adorable smile, that you unfortunately couldn’t see……

 "N-no…..i just wanted s-someone to talk to,” you looked up a bit to see his face.

 You grinned a little because darn was he adorable. “O-okay, do you want me t-…to get your nurse?,” you asked. He looked at you then directly down to his hands in his lap.

He cleared this throat and said,“ W-….well if it’s okay with y-you…….can you stay and talk with m-me…………..wellimeanonlyifyouwanttoiwasjusthinkingsinceweseemlikethesameage!" 

Peter blushed uncontrollably and smiled like a dork. You giggled at how fast he spoke, covering your smile. "Y-yeah sure Mr.Parker, I’ll stay a-and we can talk.” He grinned and said, “Peter, you can call me Peter it’s okay.” You blushed lightly, “O-okay.”

Peter sighed at the sight of you – as usual. He just couldn’t help it. Whenever you walked into the room, cheerleader uniform hugging your body perfectly and gleaming smile adorning your already beautiful face as you talked to your friends, he started staring and sighing. It was as if his heart was melting, except he didn't think something melting could thump so hard inside his chest. Besides attending the same school as he did, you also lived right next door to him on Queens, which, of course, made not falling for you even harder for him. You frequently crossed at Mr. Delmar's shop, and he was now starting to pick up on Peter's crushing situation and wouldn't stop teasing him for it. Thankfully enough, you hadn't picked up on the situation yet, and handled it as gracefully as you handled everything else. 

But, again, you went to the same school, and that was where Peter saw the end of your lives' intersection. While he was what he and Ned classified as a loser, you were now the head cheerleader, and that said enough by itself. Peter told himself, because of that, that he shouldn't get his hopes us, but whenever you flashed him a smile in the cafeteria, his heart would flutter and – wait, you were smiling at him. And waving. Shit, Parker, stop staring like a creep. React. 

Meekly, he waved back, a trembling smile on his lips. Just when you looked away, then, Michelle sat across him with a mocking smirk, forcing him to look away. "Parker, you are such a heartthrob."

He grabbed his PB&J again, taking a bite out of it with a frown. "Shut up, MJ."

"No, come on, for real." She insisted, still smirking and assuming an affected tone. "How can Y/N not fall for the nerdy Peter Parker, with his glimmering eyes, shaking smile and love for mechanics?"

Peter rolled his eyes in response, peeking a glance at you then back at Ned's notebook. MJ was right. How could you ever like him when he didn't even know how to... how to people, I guess? Just because you were neighbours and you were nice to him, it didn’t mean you liked him. After all, Peter was convinced you were unarguably nice to everyone. No, you were definitely out of his league.

"Don't look now, Peter." Ned sort of whispered, excited. "But she's coming this way." 

"Get ready, stud." MJ teased, winking at Peter then looking up at you. “Hey, Y/N!”

“Hi, Michelle!” You responded with a smile, approaching their table. At the sound of your name, Peter looked up at you, smiling weakly while chewing his sandwich, and you felt the butterflies you were now used to have in your stomach making a fuss. You didn’t know what the heck was up with you, but just seeing Peter made you smile like someone’d told you you just won the lottery. With his glimmering eyes, shaking smile and love for mechanics, Peter Parker was like a jackpot for you. Forcing yourself back to the moment, you slid into the bench by Michelle’s side, who made room for you to be right across Peter. “Peter, Ned. How are you guys?”

“We’re cool, Y/N.” Ned said, nudging Peter right afterwards. “Right, Peter?”

“Y-yeah.” He said, blinking hard for some reason. You pursed your lips to hold back a smile.

“I’m sorry for interrupting your lunch, but – ”

“The pleasure’s always ours, Y/N.” Michelle said, and you couldn’t really tell whether she was being sarcastic or not. You never could, and that was the intriguing thing about her. Peter, though, raised his eyebrows and shook his head.

“D-don’t worry, Y/N. And don’t mind MJ.” He said sweetly, and you shrugged.

“Anyways,” you kept on, “I meant to ask if you guys are coming to the game tomorrow?”

“Nah, I have a thing.” Michelle said straight away, but both of the guys looked at you funny.

“What game?” Ned asked, at last.

“Uh, the football game. Like, the New York semi-finals? In which our team will play?” You told them with a smile, unbelieving of the fact they didn’t know about the game. “Come on! Don’t tell me you guys didn’t know about it!”

“We- we aren’t exactly the most popular people around here, Y/N.” Peter told you slowly. “Also not the sportsiest people in the room. They usually sit at your table.”

You rolled your eyes slightly, still in disbelief. “Ok, now you know at least, because your friend Y/N told you about it. Are you coming?”

Ned and Peter exchanged a look, and Ned shrugged. “I guess games aren’t really our thing…”

“I don’t even know where the field is.” Peter admitted, and your eyebrows went up high.

“Wait, you mean you two have never been to a High School football game?” You asked them, in utter disbelief. Ned shrugged again while Peter scratched his neck. You clicked your tongue, smiling widely. “Ok, fine. Time to change that. Game, tomorrow at eight. I’ll look for you. And, afterwards, we can, I don’t know, grab a slushie at 7-11.”

“O-okay.” Peter mumbled, eyes wide as a grin slowly tugged its way into his face. “We’ll be there.”

You raised your eyebrows, nodding as you got up from their table. “You better be. See you around, nerds.”

As soon as you left, MJ looked at her friends. Peter had a shit-eating grin on, looking at you as you made your way back to your friends, and Ned’s mouth hung slightly ajar, staring at where you sat as if he saw a ghost. “You are truly ridiculous. You know that, right?”
