All Tomorrows/Killer Folk AU - Mountain Areians
Cultural Ideas, beliefs, and systems spread among Mountsin Arian cultures:
1. Like almost all Areian cultures and societies, Mountain Areians is run on a caste system . Roles and jobs are split among the three different Adult genders (Fertile, Extremely Fertile, and Infertile).
3. Infertile Adults are relegated to lower tasks; cleaners, servants, manual labor, or even slave labor. Entertainers are considered servants and part of this caste.
4. Fertile adults are often the artisans, craftsmen, agriculturists, and architects of society.
5. Extremely Fertile Adults take up leadership roles, leading the hunting parties, acting as traders and negotiators when trading and bartering with other peoples.
6. Society is run by the guilds. Each one representing a different trade or craft.
7. One can only marry within their own guild. Marrying a lower caste, upper caste, or marrying from a different guild is strictly forbidden. Meant to protect trade secrets and prevent theft.
8. Pups are raised within their parents guild until they hit puberty. Once they take the fertility test, a child will either be kicked out and sent off or stay within their own guild.
9. A child with a different fertility than their parents will go to the “boarding houses” of their newly assigned caste. Here they will stay while they do “internships” among the different guilds.
10. The guilds determine who goes where when being assigned to a guild. (Considered a second coming of age ceremony)
11. The mountains of Areia are typically rather tall and arid. Many Mountain Areians groups rely on trade and bartering to get necessary supplies, food, and tools for their livelihoods.
12. Mining is their largest trade and one of the largest guilds of any group. Hold incredible power and influence as a result.
13. One of the most colorful and intricate clothing in the world accidentally. Mountain Areians are completely colorblind (can only see the world in greyscale) and are extremely farsighted. Bright colors and intricate detail stand out allowing one to identify other from a distance even with these limitations.
14. Have developed a unique “writing system because of their eyesight. Rely on braille and blocks and knots instead of the written word. Knots and beads of varying shapes and sizes are spaced at different intervals to “write out” a sentence. Very utilitarian; used primarily for record keeping or passing important information between the guilds.
