Hello!!! Apologies it took us so long to get back to you!! And for the convoluted answer!!!!

First-up texture wise: I drew the art in HeavyPaint! Very VERY nice painting-oriented app.

(It can be a little buggy so make sure to save / backup your work regularly if you're working on more complex pieces in it!!)

The brushes I used were 'Lasso Fiber' and 'Lasso tex'! It was drawn on one layer, so they got very amalgamated, but anything with a "noisier" feel would be tex and anything with a "frayed" visual would be Lasso Fiber!

...I do not believe there are any equivalents to these brushes in any other app! The closest I can imagine remotely resembling it in brush form is probably 'Sketching - 1 Chrome thin'/'Sketching - 2 Chrome large', or a tweak of the 'Experimental webs' found in krita's presets but even then...

( I can imagine a workaround to this on, say, procreate? Procreate has a brush pattern engine which allows for the alpha channel of a brush texture to be filtered along pressure, but CSP does not have this capability. TGTS has examples of this in action in some of their sets. I would say brushes like the ones below combined with a lasso tool for sectioning colours could make a pretty solid similar visual effect!!!!)

ANYWAY...!

Then I fiddled with my art using an ios halftone app by this developer! It was popular recently and I wanted to give it a go!!

Art tool review: Very nice to play with and well made, but isn't strictly necessary; you can achieve similar effects if you have an understanding of risography printing or other similar techniques!!

There's quite a few similar tools online if you don't have an ipad/iphone, but if you're interested in the replicating the medium itself, I would say spectrolite takes the most care towards riso.

If you DO want to play about and DIY these types of textures *retroactively* within an art program, I'd lean towards using CSP/Krita instead of procreate due to their layer modes and in-built filtering systems respectively!

If you want Brushes though, the aforementioned TGTS and then RetroSupplyCo would be the best place to go.

I liked these two the most out of my tweaks! My mindset with this Siffrin piece was "I would like it to emulate a linocut print a little bit but I'm not fussy", in regards to which these came the closest, but it didn't scratch my brain enough.

...SO! The last adjustments I did were:

Layer the app outputs in procreate to mash the filtered ones together

Brought back in the original art and removed the background colour from unimportant areas to act as bounding areas between the "print" and the "background". This was offset slightly, which is what gives those parts of the art a "stamped" feel!

The hard mix blending mode really likes forcing colours towards a select dramatic few! So Using it at a lower opacity on a very visually noisy piece like this winds up both boosting visual contrast and mimicking paint-stamp areas with lower ink coverage!

Drew on the eye and dagger highlights so they get to have a bit more drama

I duplicated the artwork and started adding colour adjustments to test if there was any different hues and contrasts and whatnot that I might've preferred. Still wound up preeeetty close to the original but it made my brain happier.

Ilmenorutile and Cyan Sapphire make Charoite
