This place was creepy. 

Silas’s own unease was evident, as not only did the trainer have Scruffy-his ever faithful poochyena-at his side, but Flash the Flareon strode daintily on his other side, radiating calm and ease. Between the three of them, she was the most rational of the group. 

But it wasn’t his fault that Ecruteak City was weird. 

Quickly the trainer strode through the town, slinking past buildings and shops alike until he made it, finally to the doors of the gym. “Okay, guys.” Both of his pokemon looked up at him, Scruffy sitting on his foot. “Here’s, like, what’s going to go down. We go in. We kick ass. We get out. No questions asked. No staying ‘til nightfall.” Scruffy woofed in agreement while Flash yawned, as if she’d be fine staying the night.

Seconds later he’d walked into the gym, completely prepared to successfully get this over with.

He knew he wasn’t ok, it was written all over Morty’s face. The eye expressions and body language said it all, although how far was Steven willing to press the matter? Well, he would because it wasn’t like for Morty to be ‘not ok’. 

   “ Hey good lookin’, what’s cookin’? ”

Looks behind him. “I don’t see anyone…”
