“please don’t leave me alone.”
Remy runs his hands through his hair. He wants to stay -- she’s new to this, and she was so scared the night before, and she’s beautiful, and he’s pretty sure if he lets her keep stealing alone she’ll get caught and go to jail or worse. But he can’t drop everything and stay in this safe house forever.
“I can come back, chere, but I can’t stay,” he says. He wishes desperately that he could do better than that.
