â  â   well.  yeah.  â  noir  turns  his  head  to look  at  her,  examining her  expression  of shock.  oh,  right :  the  eternal,  inescapable  fact  that  noir was,  in fact,  someone with a body count,  was  not a  truth that  everyone had to grapple  with  every  day  of  their  lives.  for  noir,  the  fact  that  heâd  killed  people  ( most  notably,  his  uncle  benâs  killer )  was  an  omnipresent  concept,   one  that  crept  in the shadows of  his  mind  always.  gwenâs  shock  was a  fresh  splash  of  water  over  his  face,  a  reminder  that  that  fact should not be  something  normalized  in his  life  â  even  if  heâd  punished  himself to  hell and  back  over it.
he  turns his head,  not quite  wanting  to  meet  her  gaze  anymore,  bringing  the  cigarette in his  hand  up  to  his  lips.  â ⌠  literally.  i ,   yâknow  ⌠  shot  him  three times,  and  then  he  died.  â  his  eyes  look  far away  as he  explains it  to his  younger  companion.   well,   she might as  well  know  the full  extent of the  truth.  the vulture.  dead.   nineteen  thirty  three.  the  year  noirâs  damn life went  sideways.
MOURN, FOR THE loss, the tears that drowned spider-people across the dimensions. How does the world decide their fate, the moment the venom sinks into their veins? Warps their happiness, twists it, curdles whatâs left; sheâs spent so long fighting it, the cycle of violence that follows their shadows. Was it worth it, wonders her lips, quietly.
â...literally,â instead is breathed out, like a sigh, an exhaled plume of smoke. Like a murmured prayer in front of a priest, where confessions go to live && die again, because she gets it. Sheâs... familiar, with the rage that overwhelms ( the sight of her father, crushed into a coma, her need for vengeance && BLOOD-- --- ), has atoned for it. But she does not shy away from it, her eyes a bright blue, concerned as she exists beside him. â...are you... alright?âÂ
