For fun I thought I'd ask you some questions, lessee: What do you like about where you live now? When you're feelin' kinda down, what gives you good vibes in the present moment? If you could elect anyone to replace Malcolm Turnbull as PM, who'd you like to depose him? Aaaaand ok, last- what advice would you have given your 14 year old self? And what would you hope your rad 34 year old self would say to you now?
These are fantastic questions, thank you! I’m so excited to answer them!!
What do you like about where you live now?
The river walks, the wine bar, the multitude of bird species that I can hear and see in my garden and around, the cows that I get woken up by mooing on a Saturday morning, the bunch of vibrant people I work with, my job, the affordable houses, HORSES.
When you’re feelin’ kinda down, what gives you good vibes in the present moment?
The river walk is great for this; I go along the less-travelled, unpaved section, and sit and watch the rabbits and foxes, the finches and wrens, and, rarely, a platypus. It’s very tranquil and peaceful, and helps put me in a better frame of mind. Failing that, some gardening, or pumping some tunes, or binge watching OITNB.
If you could elect anyone to replace Malcolm Turnbull as PM, who’d you like to depose him?
Hmm probably someone from the Greens, like Sarah Hanson Young. Or Jamie Parker (I know he’s not in the right political rank, but)!! Someone who would look after the environment, marriage equality, LGBTI kids, asylum seekers, our schools, and install some decent internet, all the other important things, whilst not being a sexist white wealthy jerk I guess.
what advice would you have given your 14 year old self?
Pull your finger out; stop having teenage dramas with your friends (shame); stop being a conservative racist (shaaaaame); keep moving towards the feminism you’re already sailing towards but with less slut shaming; stop caring about boys - they aren’t worth your time at this point. Yes, you actually WILL be embarrassed by how much of a pickle you are being to your parents, and that Supré phase that doesn’t suit. Savour this time in your life though, because you are so light-hearted and free of stress and playful, and you need to hold onto that sort of stuff.
And what would you hope your rad 34 year old self would say to you now?
I hope she will tell me about how she has figured out how to take her foot off the accelerator of life, and learnt to live in the moment. I hope she tells me that she has finally made peace with her body and doesn’t cry to her partner when her co-workers rave on about the gym and diets. She will also tell me all about how she is well-known for being a fab teacher. And she will boast to me about her amazing equine set up she has going on.
Thanks so much for asking me =) Really good selection of questions, definitely got me thinking.
