Her eyes linger on the scars on his face. They stand out to her; they are rather new to her, and she feels a quiet tug of sympathy towards Lorenzo. A few Guardians have come through her before him, though most are simply eager to take their rewards and leave. A few have lingered to talk, and she humoured them. Lorenzo, however... she is the one who invited conversation in the first place.
“I have. More than you can even imagine. You Lightbearers live long, long lives, but I have lived a long time, across three different lives,” she says. There is a faint smile on her lips, one that she knows Lorenzo will catch. “I know the taste well, but I welcome it. It reminds me I have lived long, and I lived well. Life would be so boring without a bit of strife.”
She uncrosses her legs, and then rises to her feet, leaving her throne for the first time in a while. She is close to Lorenzo now, maybe only a foot or so away. A hand lifts, for a moment, as if to touch the skin below his scars, but she stops, if only because she does not think touch will be welcome. “A long and eventful life has been lived, then,” she says with a faint hum. “Your physical scars say as much as well.”
