GRAN PREMIO "80% chance of rain" DE ESPAĆA
Vettel managed to overtake Bottas but a few moments later Grosjean (oh no Grosjean)Ā spins and Hulkenberg and Gasly collide with him, all three out of the race: Safety Car. Insert obvious joke about Ericssonās fault.
Vettel pits super early, going for the undercut, on Lap 18, to mediums. Bottas follows suit but a slow pit stop he ends up exiting behind Vettel.
Oconās engine smokes, and has to stop the car, although his race was already over the moment he pitted and they had a LOT of problems with the rear right tyre. Nut got stuck or something. Virtual Safety Car.
Vettel pits again during the VSC fearing that Bottas would do too, but doesnāt.
Verstappen collides with a lapped williams and loses a bit of endplate. Also the williamsā blew it once again.
There were some interesting battles between the saubers and the spanish drivers mid-race. Also Raikkonen had some sort of issue with the car at some point and was told to stop.
There were some interesting stints, Red Bulls went for the longest run on the starting soft tyres. The tyre compounds for this race were 2-steps softer than last yearās because of the new asphalt on the circuit (MEDIUM, SOFT, and SUPERSOFT⦠in contrast with last yearās HARD, MEDIUM, and SOFT, keeping in mind that last yearās MEDIUM is the same compound as this yearās HARD).
Yadda yadda 20 second gap between the cars, checkered flag. ĖĖ;
Your podium is Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen. And hereās all finishers, just look at the intervals, also the strategies. Donāt mind Sirotkin, all hope was lost for him when he did that last switch to Supersofts. Interesting strategy for Ericsson though, Sauberās at it again shame it didnāt quite work butĀ it was cool to see a car on softs while everyone else was on mediums.
Also check that 47-lap-old medium tyresĀ on Bottas, damn.
Hamilton is now 17 points ahead of Vettel in the wdc; with 95 points.
Both spaniards on the points at home! Also Leclerc grabs a point!
A bit disappointing that McLarenās āB-specā car didnāt make much of a change, but still happy to see that Fernando Alonso is still up there somewhere, and scoring points! Also there was an 80% chance of rain but it was absolutely nowhere to be seen. Shame, it woulda been a nice twist.
Welp, Ferrari missed again with the strategy, and Mercedes dominated the whole race. Next up is Monaco⦠which is gonna be an interesting thing⦠or ten times more boring depending on how chaotically it goes. Iām gonna bet Sirotkin will crash on the first turn, nothing personal against him but his car sucks and heās a rookie driver, and Monaco is hell. At least engine doesnāt mean a thing on Monaco, and anything can happen in formula one⦠and it usually doesā¢!
