Spontaneity rocks in my Santa Barbara studio. Whether an intuitive, soulful piece or a more koo-koo “crowfolk” painting, each piece flows onto the canvas with a message or metaphor of its own. As the images surface, a story begins. I explore the unknown, letting my imagination soar, letting the scenario expose itself.Â
My abstract work is ignited by a fascination with auras, chakras, universal energies, and my belief in the “magic of crows” and the messages they bring.
Mixed media on canvas is my genre. I prefer palette knives and finger-painting over brushes. Acrylics, oil-sticks, pastels, markers, crayons, graphite and metallic leaf are often merged. I'm not shy about clashes or voids of color; and have been known to blast a canvas with a garden hose or other unconventional tool, simply to see what might occur.  -Sara Lytle
