In 2023, Bake & Che was founded in Westminster (aka Little Saigon) in Orange County. Specializing in fresh Vietnamese desserts made with local ingredients and innovative recipes, B&C offers small treats with traditional flavors.

The Rosemead location opened recently, and so far, it’s popular (all the tables were taken). People were ordering large quantities. The menu includes Vietnamese che (soy pudding, grass jelly, coconut, pandan, avocado), jelly, and cakes. The cakes are different than Western cakes. They are baked and look like mini muffins. The jellies are $1.50, and the cakes start at $1.50. They recommend eating the cakes warmed (and can warm the cakes for you).

Palm sugar cake ($1.75): light and spongy, moist and chewier than your usual muffin

Mung bean cake ($1.50): moist, firm, and dense, does taste like mung beans, chewy texture like a rice cake

Cassava cake ($1.50): not as dense and softer than the mung bean cake, still moist, had a grainy texture like raw dough, not as sweet but didn’t like the mushy texture

The cakes are sweeter than I prefer but each one had a different taste and texture. The palm sugar was my favorite and the cassava my least preferred.

Place your order at the counter. They’ll call your number when your order is ready. Be sure to show your receipt. The interior looks clean and modern and has a fair amount of seating.
