#39 of 52: Surfside Beach to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I've been to this part of South Carolina before, so Myrtle Beach isn't a new place. I've included this as my 39th new thing as this is my first walk between two cities. This day was hot.. I mean hot. It was so hot that after a few miles I found one of the ubiquitous surf / souvenir shops and found the cheapest wide rimmed hat they had. I found the straw hat you can see in the picture. Function over form. A woman pulled over her car to offer a ride saying "I knew someone wearing a hat like that isn't dangerous". I didn't accept the ride and kept walking: through sand and sidewalks and store parking lots until I made my destination. I enjoyed this walk. I don't know if this is the kind of thing to give a recommendation or not, but I can recommend going on long walks to new places and can recommend that cities work to make walking between some of these local businesses safer for tourists and local pedestrians.
