Venus of Willendorf
In Humanities today, we were discussing ancient art, specifically the sculpture Venus of Willendorf. It’s speculated that the sculpture is a conceptual artwork done of a pregnant woman. These Venus sculptures were most commonly found near the hearth. In ancient times, women were recognized as the source of life as they brought new life into the world. Men, as hunters, were recognized as the servants to life. This is why a lot of societies were matriarcal until some man decided they didn’t like being a “servant to life.” And it was all downhill from there.
Anyway, I saw this image and it cracked me up. The Image on the left is a caveman in front of a Venus sculpture, versus the rather large man in front of super teeny tiny super model in modern times.
Evolution is weird.
