Q. It’s your 2nd Masters quarterfinal in a row. You’ll be up to #29 in the world, just above João Fonseca. Thinking back to a few months ago how do you reflect on that achievement?
RAFA JODAR: I’m super happy. During the tournament I don’t really see the rankings. I just try to play the matches and try to be focused on what I have to do. That’s not my priority during the tournament. Super happy how I handled important moments in this match. Learner is always a very tough opponent. Super happy to get the win here and to advance to the quarterfinals.
Q. You say the word ‘focused.’ It’s a key word. You really locked in for the whole match. You didn’t allow him back in the match like you did perhaps with Matteo
RAFA JODAR: Yeah.. I mean it’s always many people coming to the matches. You just try to be focused during the matches and really important moments in the match. Here in tennis there are many ups and downs. There’s also another player in front of you playing a great level so you just try to be mentally there.
The sad part is you can see how hard he was trying to stay in character but he just can’t control the heart eyes and how the near break on the “potato chip” line that they used in the show really was the best they were able to get. 😂
Honestly, the fact that they did actually have multiple takes but still had to go with one where she broke 😂
