in shapeshifters AU i headcanon Marc to have the most dramatic animal possible, even maybe some mythical creature, if u like (because he himself is dramatic af, uknow)
and because he can't freely shift to, lets say, something huge or aquatic or dangerous or anything else in the middle of the paddock, he doesn't build his image around his animal form as many other riders do (imagine vale and his puns about being the fastest turtle alive). moreover, he decides to keep it a secret (maybe we can state that myth creatures attracts too much unhealthy attention from public)
so when he starts to have some sort of proper relationship with Bez, Bez asks Marc why he can't shift and cuddle together like every day. and Marc realises that he want it, that he doesn't want to keep his creature a secret from Bez, when the younger looks at him with pleading puppy eyes, or when he's asking him probing questions during breakfast
so one day when they're at home, Marco wakes up and doesn't see Marc near him in his bed. it's strange and Bez goes looking for Marc only to find out that the man had finally shifted and he's now standing face to face with the most miraculous creature he had ever seen
and Bez is OVEREXCITED
Omg anon. You have no idea how much you speak to my soul rn. I've never put this prompt on paper but it's been HAUNTING ME AHHHHHHHHHH THANK YOU FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.
Ok so listen, we'll start from the beginning (this is serious to me) the Márquez brothers are dragons. The moment their parents realize, they urge the boys to hide it. After all, being a mythical creature is often more trouble than it's worth. Marc is a pretty red dragon; he loves sunbathing and he can breathe fire, although Julia definitely scolded him about using it wisely. As for Álex, he's a beautiful silver and blue dragon, a bit more lean and with scales that reflect the blinding sun like armour. Absolutely stunning (like a flashbang lmao). Dragons are proud and loyal creature that will protect fiercely what is theirs. It simply seems fitting
They are Cervera's secret. Their own little treasure. They fly above the city and its resident smile secretly and act like they've seen nothing.
But then it's time to join motogp, and the bothers do not speak of their second forms at all. They're too big to shift in the paddock, and they definitely don't want the extra attention, so they keep it lowkey. Sometimes, Marc can feel his fire trying to crawl out of his throat, and he lets a few scales appear on his arms. It's a soothing half-shift, something to lessen the pressure that comes with not shifting for a long time.
But this has other consequences, too. People see the scales, and they wonder what they belong to. Are they fish scales? Or maybe some kind of lizard? Marc always avoids any kind of questioning, so it's quite hard to find out. But at the end of the day, no one but the gossipy journalists care much whether Marc is a gecko or a salmon.
But then 2015 hits, and Valentino happens. It's Philips island, and the Italian is accusing Marc of helping Jorge. He's saying he's a backstabbing bastard. A snake. Marc stands there as Vale calls him names, and he watches as people start to believe him.
Then he's just Marc Márquez; the snake shifter who doesn't want to transform fully so he can hide his true hideous nature.
It hurts. Especially since he refuses to fully shift. Then it kind of proves Valentino's point, doesn't it?
He lives like that for a long time, and no one cares to see his true form anymore. What interest is a snake, after all?
But then Bez happens. The same man who insulted his nature and called him a viper a few years back. He's now warming up to Marc in a way the Spaniard never expected. It's even more surprising when Marc starts to like the Italian, too.
They've been going steady when Bez asks him. He'd let the younger man brush his scales and see his slitted eyes before, but not much than that.
"You don't have to answer, but why do you never shift? We could cuddle still, I really don't mind!"
(Bez has started to question if Marc is truly a snake. Vale said so, but he himself said he never saw Marc shift fully, so how could he know? But even if the Spaniard is, Bez needs him to know that he'll accept him whether he's a wrinkly snake or an ugly fish or a grumpy lizard. He doesn't care, and he never will when it comes to Marc.)
Marc then realizes that he wouldn't mind shifting to his animal form around Bez. There is no alarm of danger ringing in his mind at the prospect; he knows Bez would never use this against him. The younger man has been probing for a while, and he can see an expectant light in his eyes whenever he shifts to a dog.
A relationship is all about trust, and Marc trusts Bez.
So yes, one day Marco does wake up without Marc at his side, and he momentarily panicks. But then he hears noise coming from the backyard and he goes out to check.
He stops at the door, his eyes wide.
Here stands Marc, in the shape of a beautiful red and orange dragon, with scales glowing under the sun. He's tall; enough that he could pick up Marco with one hand and fly away with him.
Marc opens his eyes to reveal beautiful golden irises, like a molten crown. There are small scars around the right one, and Marco freezes at their sight. He knows that their animal shapes often wear more injuries than their human forms, but...
(The diplopia, he remembers faintly.)
Marc slowly stands up, and Marco is still staring with his mouth agape.
Truth is, Marc is the most beautiful creature he's ever seen. Marco has always wished to be a dragon when he was younger; everyone did, but to see the real thing in front of him like this?
Marc is no snake. He's a dragon.
(So many things start to make sense in his head.)
Marc approaches him with a huff, avoiding to put much pressure on his right front leg and bowing his head down to smell Marco.
The puffs of air hit his face, and he giggles, raising an almost trembling hand to brush Marc's snout. It's warm to the touch; the scales almost soft under his fingertips.
"You're a dragon," he breathes out, feeling excitement fill him at once. Fuck, his boyfriend is a dragon.
Marc lets out a deep rumble as if he were laughing, his pupils becoming rounder as he stares at Marco.
So warm...cat shifters must love him.
He doesn't see the way Marc's tail flutters in relief at his position reaction, or the way a small flame leaves his nose at the visible enthusiasm.
Marc's simply glad he gets to be himself around Bez.
And Marco? Well, he's definitely getting his race helmet and finding a way to ride his boyfriend one of these days.
(Marc laughs when Bez proposes it, but he doesn't say no. He finds it hard to say no when his lover looks at Marc like he's the greatest gift the world ever gave him.)

AU where Marc is just a bit more angrier at Vale post 2015 for ruining what could've been and decides to get back at him in a....different way. He looks at Vale's Academy, and at the future students who will get enrolled in the upcoming months. He looks, and he decides he's going to steal something important to Vale. He's going to steal an Italian boy from Vale.
Marco Bezzecchi never gets to join the Academy. Instead, he's shipped off to Spain with the man who screwed over his idol and who's apparently as cruel as he's arrogant. He's supposed to live there, train there, with this man 6 years older than him, and pretend like he doesn't hate him. He distinctly feels like his future has been ruined.
Marc? He's not here to make Bez like him. He's going to train him, and Bez is going to race against all these other Italian boys and win.
Because that's what Marc does. Winning. And Valentino is going to understand that nothing he can do will be enough to beat Marc in anything.
Horror AU where Marc is just as relentless as he currently is; he keeps getting back up and aiming for the win while never giving up. A true strong spirit! Except that this time he gets truly hurt.
Outsider pov of another rider watching Marc stand back up with his arm ripped open and walking away like it's nothing. Another time his leg gets twisted and broken and he still walks on it. Guts spilling out yet still riding, the red of the leathers hiding it. He's not really human, and people just start fearing him and the bottomless look in his eyes as he keeps getting back up again and again and again like a puppet
He's supposed to be dead, yet he keeps on marching. How?
Álex Márquez goes to the fortune teller as a joke when he's 17 with a couple of friends and meets a batshit crazy lady who keeps saying insane things. After highkey laughing in her face, she urges him to touch her crystal ball to have a glimpse of his future.
Turns out he gets shown the entire thing like the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
So here he is, seventeen years of age but suddenly with years of knowledge, and the only thing he wants to do is hit his future self.
Cue to him tying Marc down in the basement and dumping him there for his own protection, getting his parents to hold hands, betting on the next four World Cups, investing in Max Verstappen stocks early, multiple attempted murders on Valentino Rossi's life, trying to keep Dani Pedrosa in one piece, and somehow garnering the attention of multiple Academy members who would really be better off minding their business
Okay so. What if all the riders have nine lives, exactly like cats, and the toll of winning an incredible prize such as a championship is one life. To win, you have to die a little.
What if Marc was in love with Valentino, and what if, after realizing the Italian will lose his last life and truly die to win his tenth, he sabotaged the championship on purpose. Vale will hate him, yes. Marc cannot find it in himself to care. As long as the older man is alive, he can keep hating him.
Then 2020 happens, and Vale retires in 2021. He's safe, with one life remaining. Valentino hates Marc for what he did. He had no right, and he refuses to listen to the pathetic excuses. Love, what a joke.
But then it's 2025, and Marc wins his ninth. He's on his last life, and it does not bother Valentino at all.
Why should he care?
2026 rolls, and Marc is on his way to win. The press ask him about it, and if he's really going to go through it, to follow Agostini's footsteps and die in the search of glory. Marc is at peace with it. He's been at peace with it for a long, long time.
Valentino, however, finds that he is not.
All of a sudden, the thought of Marc dying hurts like a spear through the chest. He thinks about having to watch MotoGP without Marc and almost throws up in revulsion. He thinks about having no one to search for in the paddock, even if only to glare, and it's too much.
Vale never understood how Marc could sabotage his championship because of such a silly thing like "love".
He thinks he's starting to get it, a special kind of despair growing in his chest, like every minutes is his last on earth. He thinks that, if Marc dies, a part of him will also die a little. His last life does belong to Marc in a twisted way.
Well, Valentino supposes that it's never too late to sabotage a championship himself.

Random thought after that Ducati vid with the paper planes and boats but—
Eldritch entity Marc who joined MotoGP and who brings misfortune to the people around him. It's like some kid of spell; some can somewhat resist it, other are very vulnerable to it. No one knows, until Marc joins Ducati. Francesco Bagnaia wouldn't consider himself an unlucky man, but the 2025 season was just a big joke at this point. He figures it's linked to Marc in such an odd way.
He gives Marc a gift.
The Spaniard smiles and seems happy about it, and the next day Pecco does not fall from his bike. From here, there's a theory that forms in his head.
So he keeps going; he give gifts to Marc, and realises that the bigger they are, the more luck he gets back. So he starts shedding pieces of himself, giving Marc everything he can, even his soul. And the worst thing is—it works. So he keeps going and going and going and Marc smiles smiles smiles and cradles his head and kisses him deeper until Pecco feels like he's drowning in a power he can't understand.
Pizza delivery guy Bez AU where he just knocks on everyone's door and ends up in the most ridiculous fucking situation you could not imagine. Like Valentino tries to make him join a weird cult, Marc keeps flirting with him and overpaying him, Pedro looks like a serial killer ordering a lunch for his victims, Sava can't form a coherent sentence, Pecco needs therapy and so on
Hiii I don't have rlly anyone else to bother with this, so I'll be quick: What about a Cowboy and Vampire AU? Like, idk the Márquez being powerful vampires that like to roam around bringing chaos and the Academy being very respected troop under Valentino's guidance making justice.
Just thoughts, I hope you are having a good day also!
Hi again!!!! Please do feel free to bother me with any ideas btw, i always love it! It's my pleasure to answer you :3 and i did have a great day! Good studies for exam week and a job interview that went amazing eheheje >:)
Now cowboy/vampire AU...I remember reading a bunch in other fandoms and they always slapped! I like the thought of the Márquez bros being super old vampires who have roamed this earth for decades upon decades now. They have their own system, which is far more progressive than some other vampires. They're not really into human livestock; that was a very old vampiric culture thing. They know it's still the most popular way to harvest blood, but...
They do not want to do it anymore. They have, for many many years they have, but now, animal blood and stolen bag of human blood will do the job. They're actually very ethical vampires now that you think about it. They used to be quite ruthless, but this gets boring fast , doesn't it.
So now they live to have fun, going from town to town and using the cattle as sources of blood. It's quite funny to escape the law like this!
Until they meet their newest adversity.
Cowboys aren't new to their lives. Marc and Álex are used to escaping them. Marc even remembers that one time where that particularly annoying Italian cowboy had chased him all the way to the edge of the world for the sole purpose of killing him. Marc had, of course, ended up sinking his fangs into his soft throat and greedily drinking from his jugular until he dropped dead. Unfortunate; the man had been quite charming, if not incredibly annoying.
But this new group is...different. They work in symbiosis, like they have one mind despite bickering so much that their horses look ready to murder them. And they are also very good at hunting vampires.
Very, very good.
They have silver, they have garlic, they have their neck hidden and they look just about ready to eradicate the vampiric specie to protect a few cows. Well, Marc respects the enthusiasm.
It's not like they're going to get caught anyway; they're better than that.
But then the group of cowboys' teacher appears. The one who made them so famous and renowned.
And fuck, he looks pretty damn familiar.
Did Marc meet that guy before?
"Uh, Marc. I think that guy wants to kill you," Álex murmurs very loudly next to him.
(Yeah, no shit Álex.)
"My name is Valentino Rossi, leader of the 46 Academy. You are Marc Márquez, yes? The vampire who defeated Jorge Lorenzo during his reign of terror?"
And okay, Marc did do that, but people really needed to stop making it sound like a big deal. He didn't even kill Jorge, he only beat the crap out of him and stripped him of his titles as a vampire. Beside, the guy is happy where he is, sucking up to a random human Marc is pretty damn sure is a witch living in the mortal world.
(Dani is not a mortal man, Marc is convinced of it.)
"Yes? What can I do for you?" He asks with a smile, trying to sound welcoming.
Maybe it would not be so bad—
"You killed my father thirty years ago."
Or maybe not.
Marc cringes. Should he say sorry? Shit, is that guy the son of the annoying Italian cowboy???
"Sorry about th—"
"Allora, I do not really care, no need to apologize. He was an asshole."
Okay, yeah he kind of was, but he didn’t really expect to hear it put like that.
"So uhm. Why are you still pointing your gun at me?" He asks. Álex rolls his eyes beside him.
Rude?
Valentino Rossi blinks, then shrugs. "Ah, we hunt your kind for sport, and your head would sell at a good price at the market, vampire lord and all."
Rude????
"Should we run?" Álex asks him with a laugh.
Marc looks at the group of cowboys in front of them. A young one who looks giddy, a curly haired one who's glaring like he has a personal vendetta against Marc, another curly haired one who looks bored out of his mind, one dressed in red who does not seem all that invested but more eager to please, and a tall one who frankly can't seem to care about everything that's happening.
Marc drags his eyes back to Graziano's son.
They look fun.
"We run!" Marc exclaims with a grin, tugging the reins of his horse to gallop away.
Maybe they will stick around this region just a little longer, all of this looks as promising as entertaining.
