it's difficult to be irritated with obi-wan when she knows the weight of the galaxy rests upon his shoulders. there is much about jedi principles she does not know nor understand, but she has a feeling it would be against their philosophy to allow themselves to feel that weight as heavily as he does. perhaps that is why he rarely speaks of it. disgruntlement, frustration, anger—these are emotions not belonging to a jedi. no those are more her foray.

she feels a tinge of them now as she stands at the door to his quarters, a cross expression on her freckled features. she waits for him to answer. she does not even knock. she knows she doesn't need to. they can always sense each other. and that's the problem. the energy radiating from the other side of the entrance is fractured. weakened.

THE OPPOSITION clearly wasn't expecting someone like eve to come tearing his way through their defenses. judging by the sudden eruption of horrified screams and quickly abandoned posts, they also weren't expecting to come face to face with such primal savagery this day. understandable. watching your comrade's throat get ripped open by another man's TEETH could crumble anyone's resolve. blood still dripping from his snarling mouth, a low, rumbling growl reverberated through his chest and throat, echoing off the walls surrounding them, somehow carrying through the screams. behind him, safely corralled away from the onslaught, obi-wan; had they simply not harmed HIS jedi they may have lived through the night. 

"Just stay where you are, I need to think." It wasn't often Obi-Wan thought to intimidate first and ask questions after, but he was willing to make an exception for the familiar blue eyes staring back at him. One lightsaber remained unlit at his side as the other flickered to life, an unspoken and very visible threat. Yet, in the same moment, one he doubted would be very effective given the slight tremor to his wrist and the remnants of fear projected into the Force in the moments before he had been able to shield his emotions.

He stood tense in a way that suggested he would pounce given the slightest unexpected movement, uncomposed for the Jedi Master he had become, but neither his collective experience from the Order nor GAR had prepared him to face himself in anything but the mirror. Not even Sith magics were capable of producing an image so strong and grounded in the Force, full of life and an essence so similar to his own; and being similar rather than identical was the most troubling aspect. Beneath their physical distinctions also rested—what he assumed he felt to be—unfamiliar energies that could only be explained through unfamiliar experiences. All hidden behind walls he recognized in himself, yet still so painfully present at the forefront of the other's mind (as if they were wounds that never quite healed).

Obi-Wan was wise enough not to look any further, knowing his surface level prodding had already been danger enough.

They'd both become ghosts. Ahsoka didn't know if Obi-Wan was even still alive, but she hoped he was. She'd vanished too, staying on the move out of self preservation, too worried to remain in one place for too long.

Tatooine is just one more stop on the endless road. Ahsoka doesn't expect to actually see anyone she recognizes, but when she does-- well, she's been on the run long enough that recognition leads to immediate hiding until she can think it through. She conceals herself before she can be spotted in the market, and then she just.... watches. She observes, and she wonders if this really is Obi-Wan, or if it's just some man she'd mistaken for the friend she'd once known.

She has no doubt that he's aware he's being followed. She's keeping her distance, but with her hood up, she's just a stranger keeping a close watch on him. When he leaves, she follows. Even if this isn't Obi-Wan, she'd rather not approach somewhere where she might make a scene.

And then they're suddenly looking at each other. Ahsoka feels like she's been struck in the chest as she looks at him, because it is him. She hesitates for just a moment before she pushes back the hood of her robes so he can see her face.

"It really is you."

             IT  HAD       upset  him  more  than  he’d  anticipated - - -      angered      him  more  than  he’d  anticipated .  obi - wan’s  leaving  of  the  order  had  left  qui - gon  frustrated ,  angry ,  and      HURT     .  but  more  than  anything ,  it  left  him  feeling       inadequate     .  and  even  though  the  situations  surrounding  the  two  padawans  couldn’t  be  more  different ,  qui - gon  would  be  lying  if  he  said  it  hadn’t  made  him  viscerally  think  of      XANATOS     .  all  of  this  meant  he’d  lashed  out  obi - wan ,  and  while  he  regretted  it ,  that  regret  did  nothing  to  soothe  the  new  tension  between  them  now  that  obi - wan  had  returned ,  to  both  the  order  and  to  his  apprenticeship  with  qui - gon .
