Human Study Club: A Star Trek Eridani collaboration!
The Human Study Club is a concept pitched in by @parallelfallout concerning a club that Sopek founded while at the Academy, and subsequently roped Terrance Riley (son of Kevin Riley) into.
Basically, it is where the non-human students gather and study various human phenomena, ask questions, gather data, spitball theories, and then use a bunch of (technically correct but not related facts) and use the scientific method to conduct harebrained and off the wall research projects which always have very creative, but unfortunately wildly, laughably incorrect conclusions!
And following the premise of this whole fan project, it would be amazing to make this idea into a collaborative project, aka a human studies club meeting where you can add all your alien ocs who might be part of the club and add your own dialogue and then we can either make it a fic or draw it!
Are you interested in participating? Join the Discord server or DM this account, @purple-iris or @parallelfallout to take part in this little project! Don't hesitate to partake in and bring or create your own ocs!
Lieutenant Sopek and the constellation Pavo
Last but not least of our crewmember, let us explore the symbolism between the constellation Pavo and Lieutenant Sopek of Vulcan.
To begin, the constellation Pavo represents none other than a peacock. Peafowls, especially the males, are striking birds, with a bright plumage and impressive tail feathers. They represent beauty, inspiration and wisdom, qualities that to some degrees can be associated with Sopek. He is quite precise about his appearance, and as a scientist and a follower of the principles of Surak, follows a path of curious research and aspire to wisdom attained by logic.
In addition to that, due to their impressive displays of feathers and colours, peacocks are also symbols of pride and of showing off, which undeniably, Sopek does. Much like a peacock and his iridescent display, Sopek can often be seen showing off his discoveries, and it has been said jokingly before that he believes he is the best thing since Surak. Obviously, through the course of Eridani, he learns to balance this ego, but still, it draws an interesting parallel between him and the peacock constellation.
This conclude our analysis of Sopek and our constellation series!
