I have always thought this sudden change of theme to mafia-heavy was kinda off putting and completely ignored season 1 fan-base that’s into family themes. Now I can throw all hope of Akmur getting back together and I don’t think I can watch Alperen in anything anymore bc Alperen is Akgun! Anyways, I’m gonna miss you Akmur gifs and reviews…

But honestly - thank you so much for introducing this show to me! I fell in love with it through your gifs and posts 🙏❤️💓💕

I also wanted to say, after having seen the last episode, that Yağmur has excellent instincts. Have you noticed how, when her and Akgün came to that house, Yağmur was looking with suspicion at the guy who supposedly knew Akgün's mother and told about his brother? I bet she'll figure out that Akgün's brother is evil. I just hope Akgün won't be blinded by his feelings for his long lost bro and will listen to her, if she decides to share her suspicions.

I also want the writers to give Yağmur her own storyline, instead of her just being Akgün's support system.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot and have been sitting on it for a while, so I might go off on a little tangent but,

I’ve been seeing valid criticisms about how yagmur is turning into a bit of akgün therapist and how one sided the relationship is. And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the fact that akgün has someone he can open up to, that the thing that made them fall in love with each other was that they can understand each other without even speaking, but there definitely is an imbalance there. And I had to think about it a little bit because the relationship dynamics between cansel and akmur are very similar with akgün and selim always lashing out at the girls when they’re upset and breaking their hearts often and the girls always being there for them no matter what, always standing by their side, always sacrificing themselves. Then I thought about why I don’t see canan in a similar position as selim’s “therapist” and I honestly think that it’s because always Canan has other things going on. She’s got the whole fatih/bedhri thing, she’s got the kids to worry about, and other lawyer-y things happening, but Yagmur’s story is almost completely revolved around akgün. Akgün doesn’t have a chance to reciprocate his love in the same “emotional support” kind of way because Yagmur doesn’t have anything personal going on, there’s nothing that he can really support her with. You know like how we’ve had moments where Selim has helped Canan with work, or has shown his growth (and therefore offered his support) with the kids, there’s not really an equivalent of that with Yagmur.

This is also where I think the writers have kinda written themselves into a hole with how high the stakes have become. I sometimes see ppl saying this akgün isn’t the same akgün that comforted her when she broke up with her boyfriend, or when her parents got divorced or that he’s not the same akgün that selflessly got her back together with kaan even though he was falling for her. Back then things were much lighter, the biggest thing he really had to worry about was trying to leave and go back to Istanbul or whether or not he could betray selim. Since episode 10 really, everything’s gotten much more serious you know, we’ve had death threats and murder attempts, akguns been in jail multiple times, he just found out that his dad has lied to him his whole life and that he has a long lost brother. And not only that, but now it turns out that that long lost brother is working for Halil Sadi which is just going to cause more problems for him. Now, what can they write for yagmur to go through that is going to compare, or at least be enough for akgun to set aside all his problems? I’m not saying that he shouldn’t make her a priority, because he definitely should, but just story wise what could they write for yagmur to go through that competes at the same level of all the other storylines going on?? (Although they could write something for yagmur that is separate from but still related to akgün’s storyline so that they can come together later, similar to the canan/bedhri thing, but idk what that could be) So, of course he can’t exactly be an emotional support system for her, he doesn’t really have an opportunity to. Sure, there are other ways to show his love, but again when the stakes are this high, when akgun has once again fallen into a bunch of problems, when is there going to be any time for him to focus on yagmur, how can they find the time to write a scene were they just hang out or go on a date or just talk, when can they have akmur just be a couple? Again, I’m not excusing the fact that she isn’t a priority, I’m just saying that the writers have made it difficult for akgün to make her a priority, they’ve made it difficult for akgün to really show his love for her.

And maybe I’m just too focused on the present future, like next episode. I’m sure the main focus is going to be on akgün getting to know more about gokhan, falling into halil sadi trap, while yagmur investigates and tries to find out the truth. Once the truth comes out then, of course akgun’s going to be destroyed and yagmur’s going to be there once again to pick up the pieces and comfort him, and unless somewhere in that comforting, they manage to have a actual discussion about their relationship and put their issues aside and try things again, then once again there’s not really going to be an opportunity for akgün to show his love for yagmur, it’s just going to end up being about akgün again.

And let’s not even talk about #akmur 😭 at this point I can’t help to feel that they will never get back together. With Yagmur’s anger and Akgun’s involvement w/ Sancaktar, my guess that the only thing that’ll bring them together is something major like Selim’s death…

I feel conflicted about this season! I like it and I like seeing the changes in the characters after all the trauma and 3 years apart, but it feels like something’s missing. The spark that made s1 so special just isn’t there to me and I can’t put my finger on why that is. Part of me feels like it’s because last season seemed much more focused on the characters and their development and their relationships with each other (or at least that’s what I paid the most attention to 😬🤔) and this season is more about the crime/mafia aspect of the story. And I mean I am interested in it, but again it’s not really the thing I care about the most, the characters are. Someone on twitter said something about how what made s1 so good was watching them build this family and seeing that family warmth and how this season is kinda trying to appeal to the ppl who asked for more action in the story. I can definitely see that. Like you said, gone are the days of light-hearted family drama… Either way whatever is going on is just not really working rating wise and that makes me so so sad (I am not joking when I say I literally shed tears on Sunday after seeing the ratings).

And more and more, I’ve been seeing ppl complain about what’s wrong the show, what the writers are doing wrong and how they should be writing the season and it breaks my heart. Bc what’s really crazy to me is how all dizis go through that inevitable point where the show no longer feels the same, characters are all ooc and making stupid, illogical decision, the romantic relationships don’t make sense anymore and the writers just rely on the actors’ chemistry to try and make it work, the story no longer makes sense and doesn’t flow, and everyone’s generally miserable watching it and like Son Yaz is SOOO far away from that point. Like yeah it doesn’t exactly feel the same as s1, that should be expected after a main character dies, but everything is still really good and really compelling. These characters have been through so much and their journey is still genuinely interesting and still worth watching. So while I understand that things have been kind of slow and not what we expected, I still don’t really get the complaints. I feel like once again twitter is just being hypercritical and impatient. Although a part of me feels like they’re being like that mostly because we’re on the verge of getting cancelled, bc some episodes last season were definitely slow paced and l did not see as many complaints. Ppl want things to be fixed right away and for everything to go back to normal so we can get the ratings we deserve but idk, good, logical storytelling doesn’t really work like that.

I saw your tags on the ask about your thoughts on the finale and omg I will scream about Yagmur and Akgun doing the nasty for the rest of my life as well! As soon as I saw that scene I was dying and barely containing my screaming!

I wish we could have more Akmur scenes so much! And I'll continue being bitter about the cancellation for all the years to come.

They did it, they really did it…

The writers and director seem hopeful that maybe one day the show will continue, but it wouldn't be anytime soon. The actors are already moving on to new roles, Alperen has a new show on a digital platform, Ali Atay is still doing Leyla ile Mecnun. So, maybe a year or two from now.

Until then, on twitter, they are constantly doing hashtags, trends, and campaigns to get a channel, any channel, to take interest in the show. As the weeks since the finale continue to roll by and people have lost hope due to the lack of immediate response, it's been a bit harder for them to make the trends list each time, so any amount of help would be greatly appreciated.

On Fridays, I know some people have been rewatching the show and livetweeting using a hashtag as if it were a brand new episode. It's not necessarily a fandom-wide thing, because again, it seems like a lot of people have lost hope, but I've noticed a decent amount of people rewatching. If they can manage to make it trend each episode, it definitely shows channels how dedicated the fandom is and how well-loved this show is, plus it's just a fun community event. This Friday, they are watching episode 3 at 8pm Turkey time.

There is a petition floating around that's trying to save the show. The really cool thing about this petition is that it's not just about Son Yaz, but it's also about taking a stand against the general unfairness and ruthlessness that is the dizi industry and the lack of respect it has for the cast, crew, creators, and audience, which constantly get sacrificed for money and greed. I'm pretty sure the petition has gotten support from fans of other shows that were unfairly cancelled or ended without a proper conclusions and it is almost at 15,000 signatures.

Oooof I have just been in a funk all day since I heard the news. You are 100% right, with the way things are being done, it must be so disheartening to be a member of that industry. They must live in constant fear that the show they have put so much time and effort into could get cancelled at the drop of a dime. It is just not conducive to freedom and creativity, for neither the writers nor the actors. I feel so bad for everyone involved in the show. They all seemed like they genuinely enjoyed their time on the show and the environment they were working in. It really seemed like they were all really proud of the show too.

Yeah, I’m wondering if Selcuk really does have anything to do with Canan’s death. I’m really hoping that he doesn’t. I love his and Akgün’s relationship and all that stuff with Akgün’s mom is the most betrayal my heart can take. I could definitely see him suspecting Selim, but I just don’t know (honestly I’m surprised more ppl don’t suspect Selim).

Cihan’s mother is definitely involved in some way, which honestly just makes me more confused because if Halil Sadi wasn’t the one who ordered Canan’s death, then was Cihan’s mom acting without Halil Sadi knowing?!? And I don’t think she knew about Emel until Soner and Naz got married.

Yeah I was surprised at how reckless Selim was being. Like I get that he’s desperate to find out who killed Canan but jeeeeez it’s really affecting how he does his job. And that part when Akgün told him that Soner and Naz got married, and Akgün asked what Selim would have done if he found out earlier. I’m like wow if Akgün’s the one being logical then we have some serious problems here 😂😂😂 oh and can I say that Selim genuinely made me so so mad, like FUMING, when he stormed into Emel’s house and started questioning how she was raising the kids. And I am so understanding of all these characters and generally willing to look the other way when they’re wrong, but wowwwww Selim was just SO unbelievably wrong and unjustified in that situation, definitely put a bad taste in my mouth.

If more people joining the son yaz fandom means more eyes on the show and higher ratings for s2, then I say the more the merrier!

Unfortunately, more fans usually means more people finding unnecessary things to complain about and that’s annoying. On twitter, I was already pretty sick of the fandom by the end of last season, so I think I’m just going to try really hard to just stay out of it. I’m not too involved on there any way.
