It’s Monday, July 13, 2020 and definitely one of the most unusual years that I have ever experienced. I have only photographed one assignment so far this year and there’s really no end to this pandemic in sight. I am thinking back to May of 2019 at fabled Sonoma Raceway for the first (of hopefully many) Sonoma Speed Festival. I fondly remember standing by the low wall in the staging lanes looking at the incredible cars awaiting their chance to race their historic cars. The smells of spent fuel and the sounds of pistons pulsing made my heart beat fast and I often found myself just sitting and taking the whole experience in as it felt so special and magical. I am so looking forward to the opportunity to see my motorsports friends, old and new, when this crisis passes. Until then please stay safe out there, be kind and respectful to each other and keep dreaming of another day in the wind. Just a simple photograph of an unbelievably beautiful Jaguar. This Jaguar was one of the first cars that I saw when I walked down the long hill to the paddocks. I must have spent 20 minutes just staring at this work of art. - - I cannot even begin to describe what it felt like to be at the first Sonoma Speed Festival in 2019. The sights, the sounds and even the smells of historic racing were everywhere. I felt like a kid as I walked around and saw so many cars that I has seen growing up in so many incredible races. I actually found myself time after time forgetting that I had a camera as I just wandered around and experienced this incredible gathering of history. I am a die-hard lover of black and white, but, sometimes color just tells the story better. In this case this was a photograph from the inaugural Sonoma Speed Festival held at the famed Sonoma Raceway (formerly Sears Point).
