Pls tell me more about SonMaeda cousins (or where I can find more!)
I was actually in the process of writing something for it so there’s that, buuuut it was more on the Komaeda family dynamics so… have this instead! So sorry if it’s a bit lengthy, I kinda lost track of things. Hope the wait was worth it lmao
When Frederick saw his sister smile at the handsome ambassador from Japan, he knew she was in love.
Sophia’s eyes were shining in a way that reminded him of starlight. It was unfiltered adoration, one she only gives to her books and her family. Rarely does she smile as carefree as she does to that ambassador. Fritz hoped against all odds that it would stay.
When Frederick heard of his father finding out about his sister’s affair, he knew she was a goner.
Their father was a terrible man. Despite being the crowned heir, the king has done nothing but make his sister’s life miserable. And for what? Her gender? Her beliefs? It wasn’t Sophia’s fault that she was a well-read lady. It most definitely wasn’t her fault no one could stand up against her razor sharp wit.
Frederick admired his sister greatly. There was no one he confided most than her, and the knowledge that she has to leave soon or risk being imprisoned in the place she once called home was heartbreaking.
When Frederick read his sister’s letter, he knew he made the right decision.
He ensured that Sophia would be able to safely leave the kingdom that day. They left when the moon was at its highest, and the populace at their weariest. It was a cloak and dagger affair; with Fritz risking the sole reason he was safe under their father’s rule, and Sophie fearing for the reason she was fleeing in the first place.
He vowed that he would find a way to allow her sister to come back home, and he would make sure of it. Frederick would do all he could so that he would be able to meet the child in his sister’s letters.
When Frederick found out about Sophia’s death, he felt fear grip him unlike any he has felt before.
It was a freak accident. A meteor crashing on a hijacked plane. The news was received with bated breath. ‘Dead on the spot’, they said. ‘No chances of revival.’ Frederick was numb, frozen upon his throne. His thoughts rushed to the child his sister has grown so fond off. ‘What of the boy?’ he asked. ‘Is he alright?’
No one was able to give the king a definitive answer. All leads regarding his nephew ended with nothing. No clue where the boy went, no idea of his fate.
Fritz shut himself inside Sophie’s room, not leaving until the sun has fully set. When he came out, the change was imminent in the air. The great king of Novoselic has lost all vibrancy in his eyes.
When Sonia told her father of the mysterious classmate she has, she saw him become alive for the first time.
Her father perked up when she recalled how Komaeda-san keeps on looking out for her. “Komaeda, you say?”
Sonia nodded, brimming with excitement at the prospect of her father being interested in her friends. “Nagito Komaeda-san is quite the character but he has been nothing but a great friend to me.” She reached for her phone, etiquette be damned, and showed him a picture.
It was a rare one, given that Komaeda doesn’t seem to enjoy having his picture taken, but it was the best one Sonia has of her friend. It features the entire class during their surprise party for Komaeda’s birthday. Everyone was smiling happily and Sonia treasures the photograph very much.
Sonia snapped out of her musings when she heard her father mumble. She turned and saw her father trying in vain to hold of tears. “…Father?”
“Sonia, darling, there is something I must tell you…”
