do you think that metal sonic is mad as hell that his ears are always forced to be in ghat upright, neutral position? you know he wants to look like this constantly
there is nothing wrong or unnatural about a robot, a machine, being partially taken apart, it's quite normal. metal sonic watches eggman do it to the badniks all the time. its just how things get built. he even watches when eggman does it to him, will watch him detach an arm or a leg or get elbow deep in his chest, and its nothing. just another day.
he's on his back, laid on top of a bench. eggman has taken him apart, thoroughly, a full work-up. theres a mirror above him. its so eggman can see, he guesses, without having to get up and lean over, he just has to look up. metal is looking up, he doesn't have much choice but to. being taken apart is nothing new, or wrong, but seeing it like this... he can see parts of himself, deeper parts, that he's never seen before. there are things moving down there. he can see them as theyre taken out of him and laid aside
if he had lungs, his breaths would be shallow. but he doesnt have lungs, and he doesn't breathe, so it's okay. why does he even know what that feels like, the sensation of panic? its strange
metal sonic is sonic from the future robotised theory. one time, during maintenance, eggman switches out metal sonic's coolant with a new and improved type. it's red, by chance. metal watches it cycle through the interior of his arm before eggman pops the panel back on. if he could experience feeling dizzy, then itd feel something like this, he thinks.
the next time he fights sonic, the next time he loses, the red leaks from his chest, drips to the ground. he looks at it like its solved everything. it feels like it has. broken and defeated on the ground, his chest making shuddering movements as his engine struggles to keep alive, it feels familiar. there's something comforting and sickening about it
the next time eggman takes him apart and spills his insides out on a table, the coolant gets changed again. purple, this time. metal doesnt know what to think.
one time rouge gets a collect call from some jail somewhere and its from shadow. and he's like rouge. I fucked up. they haven't actually figured out who I am yet but they took my chaos emerald. can you come get me. and rouge goes did you let sonic make you act stupid again and shadow goes yeah. yeah I did.

WHAT IF. to parallel sonic. silver was born a brown hedgehog. but as his powers started to develop, his fur started to turn silver, starting from his hands and spreading the more he used it/the more powerful he became
