A little preview of the first chapter of the story. The fated meeting between our two boys.
Chapter I:
Strangers
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I hate the rain. Itās inconvenient. Itās not that I mind public transportation. Every time I visit Lucy I make use of it. Driving in the city is a mess, and itās even worse when itās a torrential downpour outside. Like now.Ā Thereās traffic everywhere, which means Lucyās going to be late coming home from work. Iām not in any better situation. The subway is stopped for repairs. I didnāt care to hear the details. Iām stuck, so it didnāt matter. At least the car isnāt full and Iāve got a distraction.Ā āThe Elegant Universeā has been my recent source of fulfillment in my never-ending quest for knowledge. Itās easy to zone out the chatter of annoyed riders while immersing myself in scientific explanation.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Or it would have been easy if it wasnāt for this one dick. He has to have some sort of issues. Heās been sitting across from me bobbing his head and tapping his feet to whatever crap heās got blaring through the head phones. Itās probably some kind of death metal or obnoxious non-music. He looks the part too. Dark hair, smeared eyeliner, and gaudy colored bracelets make him look like a punk. I donāt know if his appearance offends me or if Iām just irritated by his whole manner.Ā I want to tell him that the tapping is disturbing me.Ā I slam my book shut catching attention. He jumps and Iām actually surprised that he could hear it. I shouldnāt be shocked, but I am when he looks up at me and heās wearing neon green contacts. I can feel the eye roll coming on. He smiles and tilts his head in greeting at me. Itās not the reaction Iām expecting and instead of complaining about his thudding feet, I merely tip my head and look away.
