WINE RANT: Cheap Wine
Today's Rant is brought to you by this article from Epicurious - http://www.epicurious.com/articlesguides/blogs/editor/2014/01/wine-value-below-five.html
RANT: So, I have to speak up here for a minute. Here's the deal . . . they say "if you can't taste the difference, don't pay the difference." I can say that I have not had "Two Buck Chuck" in a while, but I have tasted that Oak Leaf wine from Walmart, and I am happy to share that experience. The Oak Leaf wine is so out of balance and lacks any complexity and character. If you are drinking wine just to get drunk and you need something cheap to do the trick then this works just fine, beware the ensuing headache (lots of water should help). But, if you are drinking wine for the true sensory experience that makes it the best damn beverage in the world, then perhaps you should entertain the thought of paying slightly more than you do for a latte at Starbucks. (That is all)
